The interaction of solitons [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2017
Nonlinear Optics As light propagates through a medium such as a lens or window, scattering and dispersion processes usually result in the light diffusing. In a nonlinear medium, however, the dispersion processes can be balanced by nonlinearities to produce localized structures known as solitons, or optical bullets. Krupa et al.

Strain Imaging of GaAs by Stimulated Raman Scattering Microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, Volume 57, Issue 8, Page 1387-1391, August 2026.
Telecom‐wavelength stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy is developed for high‐throughput, nondestructive characterization of gallium arsenide (GaAs). By overcoming optical absorption limits of conventional Raman systems, this technique enables precise visualization of LO phonon frequency variations (< 0.2‐cm −1 precision).

Octave‐Spanning, Deterministic Single Soliton Generation in 4H‐Silicon Carbide‐On‐Insulator Microring Resonators

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 15, 7 August 2026.
The miniaturization of metrology and precision spectroscopy systems requires robust, turn‐key microcombs with broad bandwidth, low threshold, and high efficiency. Here, high‐Q, dispersion‐engineered microresonators in a high‐confinement nonlinear SiC platform, combined with waveguide‐enabled thermal management and laser cooling, enable deterministic ...

Temperature evolution of the high‐harmonic magnetic modulations in DyFeO3

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 59, Issue 4, Page 1332-1337, August 2026.
The temperature evolution of the high‐harmonic incommensurate magnetic ordering of Dy3+ in DyFeO3 orthoferrite is compared with the literature results on the soliton lattice of TbFeO3 observed in an external magnetic field. We report on the temperature evolution of magnetic satellites associated with the incommensurate magnetic ordering of Dy3+ ions in ...

Tsunami Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances Triggered by the 29 July 2025 Mw 8.8 Kamchatka Earthquake Observed in Japan and Taiwan

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 14, 28 July 2026.
Abstract The 29 July 2025 Mw 8.8 Kamchatka earthquake generated notable seismic and tsunami waves. The total electron content (TEC) derived by more than 1,400 ground‐based global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiving stations in Japan and Taiwan is employed to examine the spatiotemporal evolution of seismic‐ and tsunami‐traveling ionospheric ...

Unprecedented Extreme Dust Storm Triggered by Stratosphere‐Troposphere Interactions

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 14, 28 July 2026.
Abstract An unprecedented dust storm struck southern China in April 2025, affecting hundreds of millions of people in regions rarely impacted by dust storms and challenging existing understanding of lower‐latitude dust storms. Here, we show that polar stratospheric signals enabled this event by modulating tropospheric teleconnection, revealing an ...

Vortex Light Bullets Guided by Disclination Defects

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
A new class of stable and thresholdless light bullets carrying vorticity, guided by the disclination defects introduced into Su–Schrieffer–Heeger‐like lattices with a focusing cubic nonlinearity, is reported. Different discrete rotational symmetry of the aperiodic lattice determines the allowed values of the topological charge of the vortex bullets ...

Solitons in Interaction [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics, 1987
Several new nonlinear systems are given which are completely integrable. These systems can be considered as flows describing the self-interaction of single solitons in multisoliton fields. The construction of action variables, recursion operators, bi-hamiltonian formulation and the like is performed for these nonlinear systems.
