Probing the interaction of solitons
Science, 2017Nonlinear Optics![Figure][1] Internal dynamics of femtosecond soliton molecules CREDIT: HERINK ET AL. As a pulse of light propagates through a medium, scattering and dispersion processes usually result in the pulse diffusing. However, under certain circumstances, the dispersion processes can be balanced by nonlinearities to produce localized ...

Interchannel interaction of optical solitons
Physical Review E, 2003We study interaction between two solitons from different frequency channels propagating in an optical fiber. The interaction may be viewed as an inelastic collision, in which energy is lost to continuous radiation due to small but finite third order dispersion.

Soliton interaction in a complex plasma
Physical Review E, 2010The interaction of two counterpropagating solitons of equal amplitudes has been studied experimentally and numerically in a monolayer strongly coupled complex plasma. Complex plasmas are microparticle suspensions in ion-electron plasmas. It was found that the solitons are delayed after the collision.

Investigation of black-gray soliton interaction. [PDF]
Dark soliton properties have been investigated extensively over the last few years due to their potential application as carrier bits in telecommunication systems [1-5]. The particular case of the dark soliton and the most studied one is the pulse, which is an antisymmetric function of time with an abrupt π phase shift and zero

Control of Optical Soliton Interactions
Optical Fiber Technology, 1995Abstract We review the theory of optical (temporal and spatial) solitons in nonlinear optical fibers and waveguides and we apply the results to analyze the process of soliton interaction. We show that several approaches with different degrees of complexity may be employed in order to describe the multiple soliton dynamics.

Interactions between dark solitons
Optics Letters, 1989The interaction forces between two dark solitons are numerically investigated. It is found that dark solitons are less affected than bright solitons by their respective interaction forces. An empirical expression for the separation of two solitons as a function of initial separation and traveling distance is deduced, which agrees well with numerical ...

Soliton interaction in optical fibers
Optics Letters, 1987Interactions of solitons generated by pairs of optical pulses are studied using the perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which models nonlinear optical pulses in a monomode fiber. We examine the mechanism of the soliton interaction both analytically and numerically and show that a bound 2-soliton splits into individual solitons traveling with ...

SOLITON–SOLITON INTERACTION IN OPTICAL FIBERS
Journal of Nonlinear Optical Physics & Materials, 1999In an optical communication system it is necessary to place the solitons close to one another to increase the information carrying capacity of the fiber. The theory of soliton–soliton interaction in a fiber optic communication system, through a single channel, is studied in this paper. In presence of the perturbation terms, the two soliton interaction

Stieltjes Series and Soliton Interaction
Circuits, Systems, and Signal Processing, 1982The KdV and MkdV multisoliton solutions are found to be generated by rational Stieltjes functions of the non-linearity parameter, each pole of which can be associated with a soliton. The well-known asymptotic emergence of the separate solitons follows at once from the motion of the poles. Successive (n−l/n) Pade approximants to the N-soliton series are
