Kinetics of the Formation of Solketal in the Presence of Sulfuric Acid
Kinetics and Catalysis, 2018The kinetics of reversible solketal synthesis in the presence of sulfuric acid as a catalyst is studied. The parameters of kinetic equations describing direct and reverse reactions are found.

Synthesis of solketal using sulfonic aluminosilicate catalyst
2023The propyl sulfonic functionalized on H-beta was synthesized by grafting with 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilanegroup. Then, thiol moiety (-SH) was oxidized to sulfonic acid group (-SO₃H) using 30% (w/w) hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂). The synthesized catalyst was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), N₂ adsorption/desorption, scanning electron ...

Choice of a catalyst and technological scheme for synthesis of solketal
Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry, 2016Results are presented obtained in tests of various homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts in a synthesis of solketal (2,2-dimethyl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioxolane). It is shown that, all other conditions being the same, the highest catalytic activity is observed for sulfuric acid and beta zeolite.

Graft copolymerization of carboxymethylcellulose with solketal acrylate
International Journal of Polymer Analysis and CharacterizationThe objective of this work is to synthesize new materials based on cellulose fiber. In this study, we presented the synthesis of a new biomaterial by conducting graft polymerization of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl methyl acrylate (DMDMA solketal acrylate) onto carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), using KPS as an initiator.

Thermodynamic Assessment of Chemical Equilibrium for the Synthesis of Solketal in the Liquid Phase
Chemical Engineering & Technology, 2021AbstractThe synthesis of solketal is one of the innovative routes of glycerol valorization to value‐added products, and the simulation of the process requires the knowledge of thermodynamic properties that are not still available in the literature. In this work, the specific heat capacity as a function of temperature and the enthalpy and entropy of ...

Lipase-catalysed transesterification in the preparation of optically active solketal
J. Chem. Soc., Perkin Trans. 1, 1994A lipase-catalysed method for a large-scale preparation of both (R)-(ee 99%) and (S)-solketal (ee 94% after double resolution) has been described. Separation of the reaction products in the resolution mixture was achieved by extraction/distillation and the unwanted enantiomer was racemized and recycled.

All strains of Comamonas testosteroni investigated here, produced quinohaemoprotein ethanol dehydrogenase (QH-EDH) when grown on ethanol or butanol, but one strain of C. acidovorans and of C. terrigena did not. Hybridization experiments showed that the gene for QH-EDH is absent in the latter two strains.

Resolution of Solketal by Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Its Decanoyl Ester
Synthetic Communications, 1995Abstract (S) and (R)-solketal useful synthetic intermediates were prepared from the corresponding racemic decanoyl ester by an enantioselective hydrolysis mediated by porcine pancreas lipase in presence of acetonitrile.

Recent Progress in Solketal Synthesis from Glycerol and Acetone
ChemistrySelectAbstract The extensive use of biodiesel leads to the excess of glycerol as a by‐product. But as a carbon resource, it has been increasingly used in organic synthesis of high value‐added derivatives in recent years. Among them, solketal is one of the most important derivatives of glycerol, which is generated by the reaction of glycerol

Upgrading of Glycerol to Solketal Over Mesoporous Gallosilicates with Tuned Hydrophobicity
Journal of CatalysisNovel mesoporous gallosilicates with tuned hydrophobicity were synthesized through methylation of extra small XS-SiO2 silica particle via condensation with trimethoxymethylsilane CH3Si(OCH3)3 followed by impregnation with gallium (III) precursors. The structural and textural properties of the solids obtained were extensively characterized by different ...
