Functional Diversity of Neotropical Aquatic Hyphomycetes: Insights Into Environmental Drivers

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 6, November 2025.
Subtropical streams host diverse hyphomycete assemblages than tropical one's. Larger saprotrophs with diverse conidia shapes dominate in subtropical areas. Cold and oxygenated waters have a positive effect on functional diversity. Poor litter in tropical favored the dominance of wood saprotrophs and endophytes.

Seasonal and intracanopy shifts in the fates of absorbed photons in central Amazonian forests: implications for leaf fluorescence and photosynthesis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 248, Issue 1, Page 76-91, October 2025.
Summary Recent studies have shown a linear relationship between solar‐induced Chl fluorescence (SIF) and gross primary productivity (GPP) at large scales. However, this relationship diverges at finer leaf scales, particularly in tropical forests with complex canopy structures.

Building Meaningful Relationships for Equity in the Publishing Ecosystem: Empowering Latin American Research Through Engagement

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Equity in scientific publishing requires removing financial barriers, structural transformation, and inclusive practices that empower researchers from historically marginalized regions. Here, we reflect on recent Wiley's initiatives supporting Brazilian researchers to integrate into the international publishing ecosystem, including discounted ...

Isolated Trees in a Fragmented Tropical Landscape: A View Through the Soil Seed Bank

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
Here, we investigated patterns of plant species diversity, abundance, and composition in the soil seed banks of cattle pastures, under fleshy‐fruited, and nonfleshy‐fruited trees within pastures, and in secondary forest patches at ten study sites in Brazil.

Reef Fish Assemblage Through Space and Time in a Thermal Transition Zone in the Southwestern Atlantic

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 31, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Assessing the structure of reef fish assemblages and their spatiotemporal changes (β‐diversity) in seven reef locations across a thermal transition zone in the southwestern Atlantic. Location Eastern Brazilian coast, from the northern Abrolhos Bank (17° S; 26.37°C) to the southern Espírito Santo state (20° S; 21.13°C). Methods We used four‐

Temporal Dynamics of a Neotropical Plant‐Hummingbird Interaction Network

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 7, July 2025.
Using an unprecedented sampling effort we evaluated network structure and dynamics of plant‐hummingbird interactions over 1 year in the Brazilian hyperdiverse Campos Rupestres. Network structure presented remarkable temporal change, showing that tropical communities can also be strongly influenced by climate.

Soil organic matter in the granulometric fractions of an oxissol under different uses and management systems/
Matéria orgânica nas frações granulométricas de um latossolo vermelho distroférrico sob diferentes sistemas de uso e manejo

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2005
Soil organic matter (SOM) is an important component of agriculture sustainability. A clayey oxisol was studied by SOM particle size fractions in a citrus orchard managed (for a 9 year period) with a) Arachis prostrata ground cover; b) spontaneous ...
