Structure–Performance Correlation in PAN Nanofibers Reinforced With Carbon Nanotubes and Graphene Nanoplatelets

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 66, Issue 2, Page 753-768, February 2026.
Electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers reinforced with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) exhibit enhanced dielectric properties due to improved interfacial polarization and conductive network formation. Hybrid nanofillers enable morphology control and synergistic tuning of electrical performance, offering a promising route ...

Mesoporous Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework‐8 Nanoplates Mixed‐Matrix Membranes for Superior Gas Transport

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Mesoporous zeolitic imidazolate framework‐8 (ZIF‐8) nanoplates were synthesized via a ligand exchange process using ZIF‐L based on the cosolvent treatment. The mesoporous ZIF‐8 (mZIF‐8)/polymer of intrinsic microporosity‐1 (PIM‐1) mixed‐matrix membranes exhibited significantly enhanced gas permeabilities compared to the pure PIM‐1 membrane.

Reconstructing Environmental and Microbial Ecosystem Changes Across the Permian–Triassic Mass Extinction at Lusitaniadalen, Svalbard

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 41, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The Permian–Triassic environmental crisis triggered fundamental changes in marine ecosystems, culminating in the most severe biodiversity crisis of the Phanerozoic. Yet, the environmental and geochemical conditions governing the crisis and ecosystem recovery remain debated.

Exploring the Potential and Evaluating Hydrocarbon Degradation by Novel Antarctic Dietzia and Pusillimonas Isolates From a Pristine Environment

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
The Antarctic Dietzia and Pusillimonas isolates were tested for bioremediation applications. Genomic analyses revealed the potential to degrade complex organic compounds, potential virulence factors and resistance genes. Physiological assays showed a wide range of adaptation to abiotic factors and sensitivity to different groups of antibiotics ...

Obesity Impairs Skin Barrier Function and Facilitates Allergic Sensitization in Mice

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 2, Page 498-512, February 2026.
Diet‐induced obesity increases transepidermal water loss and compromises barrier function through downregulation of tight junctions and desmosomes. During obesity, MC903 elicits a mixed Th1/2/17 immune response in the skin leading to aggravated ear swelling.

Persimmon carotenoid extract rich in β‐cryptoxanthin improves glucose homeostasis and reduces liver damage in high‐fat‐diet‐induced type 2 diabetic and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease mice

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 2, Page 1299-1313, 30 January 2026.
Abstract Background Persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.) byproducts are a remarkable source of bioactive compounds, particularly carotenoids. Several studies suggest that carotenoids have beneficial effects in prevention of a large number of diseases. This study aims to highlight the effects of a persimmon carotenoid extract (PSCE) rich in β‐cryptoxanthin
