Using the Photostationary State of Arylazopyrazoles to Control Phase Transitions of Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A series of new arylazopyrazole photoswitches is designed as dopants for liquid crystalline materials. Unprecedented, the distribution of photoisomers at the photostationary state upon irradiation with light of specific wavelengths (365, 460, 520 nm) is used to control the liquid crystalline phase transitions under isothermal conditions, including ...

Acridine form IX

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2019
We report a new polymorph of acridine, C13H9N, denoted form IX, obtained as thin needles by slow evaporation of a toluene solution. The structure was solved and refined from powder X-ray data. The structures of five unsolvated forms were previously known,

Geometry‐Dependent Adhesion in Transparent Monodomain Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid Crystal Elastomers (LCEs) are emerging as exciting pressure‐sensitive adhesives. We examine adhesion in chemically identical elastomer films, exploring the influence of geometry (director orientation) and phase (nematic or isotropic). We demonstrate the potential of these aligned films as transparent, tunable, broad‐temperature‐range smart ...

Biomimetic Ion‐Orchestrated Hierarchical Armored Hydrogel Coating for Robust and Multifunctional Surface Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the skin‐toughening mechanism of marine sponges, an ion‐orchestrated structural engineering strategy is proposed to regulate the surface microstructure of hydrogel coatings, enabling the in situ formation of a robust armor layer that enhances mechanical integrity and provides multifunctional protection by suppressing fouling attachment and ...

Preparation and characterization of electrospun fibers of Nylon 11

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2008
Nylon 11 nanofibers mats were successfully prepared by electrospinning process from formic acid solution. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showed that nanofibers with uniform diameter were produced when the polymer concentration was 10% w/v,

Fluoride‐Free Adhesives for Low Surface Energy Fluorinated Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A universal, fluoride‐free adhesive achieves a record 4.91 MPa bond strength on PTFE by leveraging amine/amide dipole–dipole interactions, without fluorinated components. This sustainable strategy overcomes the environmental and performance limits of PFAS‐based adhesives, enabling robust, eco‐conscious bonding across diverse materials.

Experimental Study of Effective Parameters in Production of Carbamazepine Nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2015
In this study, confined impinging liquid jets are used to produce nanoparticles of carbamazepine (CBZ). The effect of operating parameters, such as the kind of solvent,CBZ concentration, flow rate of solution and antisolvent on particle size, are ...
