Strain‐Driven Surface Reconstruction During the Alkaline Oxygen Evolution Reaction: a Model Thin‐Film Study

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dynamic surface reconstruction critically governs the performance and durability of oxide‐based electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), yet controlling this process under operating conditions remains challenging. Here, we demonstrate that lattice strain regulates the extent of surface reconstruction in perovskite oxides by ...

Effect of silica fume additions on the hydration behaviour of calcium aluminates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
In the recent refractory castables technology, the calcium aluminate cement is being replaced in increasing proportion by very fine matrix components, such as silica fume and colloidal alumina.

Advanced Separators for Liquid and Quasi‐Solid Lithium Rechargeable Batteries: Design and Development

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review traces the evolution of lithium‐ion battery separators from passive barriers to multifunctional components central to cell safety and performance. Polymer‐ceramic hybrids, nanofiber architectures, and bio‐derived membranes deliver ionic conductivities above 3 mS cm−1, thermal stability beyond 200 °C, and effective suppression of lithium ...

Self-propagating High temperature Synthesis (SHS) in the high activation energy regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We derive the precise limit of SHS in the high activation energy scaling suggested by B.J. Matkowksy-G.I. Sivashinsky in 1978 and by A. Bayliss-B.J. Matkowksy-A.P. Aldushin in 2002. In the time-increasing case the limit turns out to be the Stefan problem

Plasmonic Nanomachines: Creating Local Potential Gradients and Motions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic nanomachines can generate optical, thermal, and chemical potential gradients to drive directional rectilinear, rotational, and twisting motions at the nanometer scale. The integration of multimodal plasmonic forces with functional materials and programmed structural distortions enables precise spatiotemporal actuation, thereby providing a ...

Orange-Reddish Light Emitting Phosphor GdVO4:Sm3+ Prepared by Solution Combustion Synthesis

open access: yesJournal of Spectroscopy, 2018
The gadolinium vanadate doped with samarium (GdVO4:Sm3+) nanopowder was prepared by the solution combustion synthesis (SCS) method. After synthesis, in order to achieve the full crystallinity, the material was annealed in air atmosphere at 900°C.

Aromatic N versus aromatic F : bioisosterism discovered in RNA base pairing interactions leads to a novel class of universal base analogs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The thermodynamics of base pairing is of fundamental importance. Fluorinated base analogs are valuable tools for investigating pairing interactions. To understand the influence of direct base–base interactions in relation to the role of water, pairing ...

Glycerol-assisted solution combustion synthesis of improved LiMn2O4

open access: yesMaterials Science-Poland, 2013
Spinel LiMn2O4 has been synthesized by a glycerol-assisted combustion synthesis method. The phase composition and morphologies of the compound were ascertained by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The electrochemical characterization was performed by using CR2032 coin-type cell.

Integrating ZnO/Ag2O@g‐C3N4‐Based Nanocomposites Into a Carrageenan Matrix to Efficiently Remove Heavy Metals From Water

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This research focused on characterizing graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C3N4) nanocomposites incorporated with ZnO and Ag2O nanoparticles, and carrageenan to remove heavy metals. The ZnO/Ag2O@ g‐C3N4 and ZnO/Ag2O/g‐C3N4@Carr nanocomposites demonstrated thermal stability of 97.40% (108.81°C) and 82.80% (188.99°C) for TGA.
