The von Neumann Stability Analysis of the Fixed‐Stress Schemes in Poroelastodynamics

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate splitting schemes based on the fixed‐stress sequential approach for poroelastodynamic problems. To assess numerical stability, we perform the von Neumann stability analysis on several fixed‐stress schemes for poroelastodynamics, including staggered, stabilized, and iterative methods. Our analysis reveals that while the staggered

On the Convergence of Conjugate Gradient and GMRES Algorithms in the Forward Backward Sweep Method for Optimal Control

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, EarlyView.
Optimal control combines state and adjoint equations, which yield the state (x$$ x $$) and adjoint (lambda) variables as a function of the control variables (u$$ u $$). This structure allows us to design strategies for iteratively updating the control variable, based on conjugate gradient (CG) or GMRES algorithms.

Treatment of pediatric epilepsy

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
Anti‐seizure medications are the first‐line treatment for the vast majority of children with epilepsy, with the advantages of non‐invasive wide adaptability. Surgery is the main treatment for drug‐resistant epilepsy and lesion‐related epilepsy, which can cure some cases of epilepsy in children. A ketogenic diet is often an add‐on therapy.

Quantum Iterative Methods for Solving Differential Equations with Application to Computational Fluid Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
Quantum algorithms for differential equations are developed with applications in computational fluid dynamics. The methods follow an iterative simulation framework, implementing Jacobi and Gauss–Seidel schemes on quantum registers through linear combinations of unitaries.

Cardiac disease in systemic sclerosis: Integrating pathobiology with clinical management

open access: yesRheumatology &Autoimmunity, EarlyView.
Abstract Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a complex autoimmune disorder in which cardiovascular involvement remains a major determinant of morbidity and mortality. Cardiac injury in SSc results from the interplay of microvascular dysfunction, immune‐mediated inflammation, and progressive interstitial and replacement fibrosis, leading to myocardial disease ...

Transforming Fragile Hydrogel Chips Into Standardized Cartridges via Contact Line Pinning for Robust Microfluidics

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Hydrogel‐based microfluidic chips revolutionize drug delivery, tissue engineering, and biosensing, yet face challenges due to fragility and connection difficulty. This study introduces a novel cartridge design that enhances usability through a hydrogel–plastic hybrid design and a contactless connection method.

Droplet Impact on Superhydrophobic Surfaces Under High Pressures

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
A phenomenological model of droplet impact under high ambient pressure (up to 200 bar) revealing unique phenomena of gas entrapment and satellite droplet retention, affected by substrate morphology and ambient pressure. Abstract Though numerous studies on droplet impact have been conducted, the maximum ambient pressure reported is limited to 100 bar ...

Dopamine: The Essential Bridge Mediating Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Hippocampus‐Dependent Learning and Memory Impairments

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Obstructive sleep apnea is a clinical syndrome that triggers a series of pathophysiologic changes, including disturbed sleep architecture, chronic intermittent hypoxia and hypercapnia, and ultimately severe cognitive dysfunction. The hippocampus plays a key role in various cognitive processes such as learning and memory.

Physics‐Driven Deep Neural Networks for Solving the Optimal Transport Problem Associated With the Monge–Ampère Equation

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Monge–Ampère equations (MAEs) are fully nonlinear second‐order partial differential equations (PDEs), which are closely related to various fields including optimal transport (OT) theory, geometrical optics and affine geometry. Despite their significance, MAEs are extremely challenging to solve.
