A flexible polymer chain in a critical solvent: Coil or globule?

open access: yes, 2015
We study the behavior of a flexible polymer chain in the presence of a low-molecular weight solvent in the vicinity of a liquid-gas critical point within the framework of a self-consistent field theory.

Effect of solvent polarity on extraction yield and antioxidant properties of phytochemicals from bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) seeds

open access: yes, 2020
The effect of solvent polarity on extraction yield and antioxidant properties of phytochemical compounds in bean seeds was studied. Seed flour of three varieties of bean was extracted in a series of organic solvents with increasing polarity (n-hexane ...

Leveraging current insights on IL‐10‐producing dendritic cells for developing effective immunotherapeutic approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In vivo IL‐10 produced by tissue‐resident tolDC is involved in maintaining/inducing tolerance. Depending on the agent used for ex vivo tolDC generation, cells acquire common features but prime T cells towards anergy, FOXP3+ Tregs, or Tr1 cells according to the levels of IL‐10 produced. Ex vivo‐induced tolDC were administered to patients to re‐establish/

Influence of different types of co-solvents on the bonding abilities of one step self-etching adhesives: An Ex vivo Study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Sciences, 2016
Aim: To evaluate the tensile bond strength of three one step self-etch adhesives: Adper easy Bond, G-Bond, Tetric N bond self etch to dentin which contained ethanol and water, acetone and water and only water as a solvent respectively.

Demixing of colloid-polymer mixtures in poor solvents

open access: yes, 2002
The influence of poor solvent quality on fluid demixing of a model mixture of colloids and nonadsorbing polymers is investigated using density functional theory.

Optimisation of solvent replacement procedures according to economic and environmental criteria in pharmaceutical industry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
During pharmaceutical syntheses, the reaction solvent has often to be switched off from one reaction step to the following one. Because of the standard industrial practices, solvent replacement generally constitutes a slow and high solvent-consuming ...

Dipolar correlations in structured solvents under nanoconfinement [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Chem. Phys. 140, 234903 (2014), 2014
We study electrostatic correlations in structured solvents confined to nanoscale systems. We derive variational equations of Netz-Orland type for a model liquid composed of finite size dipoles. These equations are solved for both dilute solvents and solvents at physiological concentrations in a slit nanopore geometry.

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Oily formulations challenge: how to evaluate their beneficial effects in hydrophilic cell-based models?

open access: yesOilseeds and fats, crops and lipids, 2018
In the European Union, Israel and India, testing cosmetic products or their ingredients on animals is prohibited. In this context, in vitro cell models play a pivotal role in the evaluation of both safety and beneficial effects of cosmetics.
