Solvents and neurotoxicity

open access: yesThe Lancet, 1997
We describe the clinical evaluation of the nervous-system effects of solvent exposure. We review the current evidence in the epidemiological literature on neurotoxicological effects of solvents, and outline methods and issues to be taken into account in assessment of the patient whose symptoms may be related to solvent toxicity.

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Influence of solvent on antimicrobial activity of Carlinae radix essential oil and decoct

open access: yesBiologica Nyssana, 2012
Plants of the family Asteraceae are known for their use in ethnopharmacology, available as commercial drugs. In this study, antimicrobial activity of Carlinae radix commercial drug’s vinegar decoction and essential oil, dissolved in various solvents ...

Solute Effects on the Helix-Coil Transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We discuss the effects of the solvent composition on the helix-coil transition of a polypeptide chain. We use a simple model to demonstrate that improving the hydrogen-bonding ability of the solvent can make the transition less cooperative, without ...

The immunological interface: dendritic cells as key regulators in metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

Modern strategies for the creation of polymer coatings. Part III [PDF]

open access: yesНанотехнологии в строительстве
Introduction. Coatings on hard materials are widely used in many industries. Coating technologies help prevent or reduce corrosion, contamination and biofouling, chemical and structural degradation, and wear and tear of external surfaces due to exposure ...

A modified Poisson-Boltzmann theory: Effects of co-solvent polarizability

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper within a field-theoretical approach taking into account explicitly a co-solvent with a nonzero dipole and a polarizability tensor, we derive a modified Poisson-Boltzmann equation.

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.
