An Integrated Technology Development Plan for Solvent-based Recovery of Heavy Oil
ExxonMobil and its Canadian affiliate Imperial Oil Resources are pursuing an integrated research program targeted at developing the next generation of heavy oil recovery processes which utilize hydrocarbon solvents as a mobilizing agent. The key benefits

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Nonlinear Behaviour of Mass Transfer Mechanisms in Solvent Oil Recovery
Literature has indicated that, experimentally, solvent fronts in hybrid thermal solvent recovery processes progress more rapidly than what can be predicted using current approximations and more rapidly than thermal processes alone [1]. The equations that

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

ROSE Process Offers Energy Savings for Solvent Extraction
Kerr-McGee has developed and commercialized an energy-efficient solvent extraction process known as ROSE (Residuum Oil Supercritical Extraction) in which the extraction solvent is recovered as a supercritical fluid.

Case Histories of Solvent Use in Thermal Recovery
Steam injection is the most successful oil recovery method for heavy oil and oil sands exploitation. In some cases, solvents are added to steam when steam by itself fails to provide satisfactory recovery factors.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,
