Solvent-induced symmetry breaking: Varying solvent strength
Physical Review E, 2005The triiodide ion is an example of a system where symmetry breaking may be induced by a solvent. The Landau free energy is expected to have a similar form to that for the mean field Ising model, but with solvent strength rather than temperature as the control parameter determining whether there is symmetry breaking.

The pyridine-derived tetrapodal tetraphosphane C5H3N[CMe(CH2PMe2)2]2 is susceptible to selective protonolysis of a phosphorus-carbon bond in the presence of iron(II) salts. Water produces dimethylphosphinic acid, Me2POH, and protonates the anionic remainder of the tetraphosphane.

Influence of Solvent-Solvent and Solute-Solvent Interaction Properties on Solvent-Mediated Potential
Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2005A recently proposed universal calculational recipe for solvent-mediated potential is applied to calculate excess potential of mean force between two large Lennard–Jones (LJ) or hard core attractive Yukawa particles immersed in small LJ solvent bath at supercritical state.

Solvent form examines the destruction of art—through objects that have been destroyed (lost in fires, floods, vandalism, or similarly those artists that actively court or represent this destruction, such as Gustav Metzger), but also as a process within art that the object courts through form.

Chlorinated Solvents and Solvent Stabilizers
2020This chapter deals with the stabilizers for the chlorinated solvents, which were by far the most frequently used solvents for degreasing, dry cleaning, cold cleaning, and dozens of other industrial applications. 1,4-Dioxane, a probable human carcinogen, has manifested as the most significant drinking water and environmental contaminant among the dozens
