Development and validation of a compressible three-phase volume of fluid solver to account for cavitation effects on near-nozzle flows and spray atomization [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fluid Engineering
A compressible three-phase solver is presented that takes into account the effects of cavitation and condensation dynamics on spray-atomization, near-nozzle flows, and internal flows, particularly in the context of fuel-injection systems.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Nested head-tail Vlasov solver

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2014
Nested head-tail is a Vlasov solver for transverse oscillations in multibunch beams. It takes into account azimuthal, radial, coupled-bunch, and beam-beam degrees of freedom affected by arbitrary dipole wakes, feedback damper,beam-beam effects and Landau

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

A reliable technique for nonlinear evolution equations with applications in mathematical physics

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control
This study presents a reliable and precise solver for solving several kinds of nonlinear evolution equations. The subequation approach is the basic ingredient of this solver.

Development and Verification of Coupled Fluid–Structure Interaction Solver

open access: yesComputation
Recent trends in aeroelastic analysis have shown a great interest in understanding the role of shock boundary layer interaction in predicting the dynamic instability of aircraft structural components at supersonic and hypersonic flows.
