The Support design of drives in soft ground at Soma-Işıklar colliery

open access: yes, 2021

The morphological affinities of the fossil cranium from Kabua, Kenya Affinités morphologiques du crâne fossile de Kabua (Kenya)

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Our current understanding of the origins of Homo sapiens is limited, in part, by the fragmented fossil record from Late Pleistocene and early Holocene Africa. Here, we re‐examine the Kabua 1 cranium, an enigmatic and little‐studied Kenyan fossil discovered in the 1950s. We compare virtual reconstructions created previously by our team with a wide range

Geological Substrate Is Related to Tooth Senescence and Population Dynamic: The Case Study of Alpine Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra L.)

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
In Alpine chamois, the complete wear of the first molar coincides with the beginning of senescence and the progress of tooth wear on calcareous substrate is slower than the one on other substrates, increasing life expectancy. Thus, the first molar wear may actually be considered as an effective descriptor of senescence stage.

Distinctly altered TRPC3 and TRPC6 expression patterns in human Alzheimer's disease cortex and hippocampus

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Divergent remodeling of TRPC channels occurs in Alzheimer's disease, with TRPC3 increased in neurons and reactive astrocytes and TRPC6 reduced in pyramidal neurons. These alterations may contribute to calcium dysregulation, neuroinflammation, and synaptic dysfunction during AD progression.

Schedule‐dependent neuroprotection by pioglitazone in a novel model of α‐synucleinopathy in rats: Integrated behavioural and histological outcomes

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose α‐Synucleinopathies are neurodegenerative disorders characterized by the aggregation and propagation of misfolded α‐synuclein. In Parkinson's disease (PD), the most common α‐synucleinopathy, the progression of motor and nonmotor deficits, and dopaminergic neuron loss, are closely linked to the spreading of misfolded α‐synuclein ...

Exploring Experiential Qualities of Relaxation in ASMR through Soma Design

open access: yes, 2022

Prevention of microglial activation and postoperative cognitive deficits by positive allosteric modulation of α5‐GABAA receptors

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Long‐lasting cognitive deficits after surgery in aged individuals, referred to as perioperative neurocognitive disorder (NCD), are a significant public health concern. Such postoperative cognitive deficits are dependent on the presence of microglia in the brain, which, when activated, trigger neuroinflammation.

The E‐cadherin‐Wnt‐mir‐994 Axis Repurposes a Cadherin Switch for Niche Robustness and Germline Stem Cell Maintenance

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
In the Drosophila ovarian niche, an E‐cadherin‐to‐N‐cadherin switch, mediated by Wnt‐mir‐994 signalling, is repurposed to ensure niche resilience. This compensatory mechanism maintains niche integrity and stem cell support upon E‐cadherin loss, revealing a robustness circuit.
