Flatsomatic: A Method for Compression of Somatic Mutation Profiles in Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In this study, we present Flatsomatic - a Variational Auto Encoder (VAE) optimized to compress somatic mutations that allow for unbiased data compression whilst maintaining the signal. We compared two different neural network architectures for the VAE: Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) and bidirectional LSTM.

Somatic cell count as a decision tool for selective dry cow therapy in Italy

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2018
The application of selective dry cow therapy is one of the measures currently suggested to reduce the use of antibiotics in dairy herds. However, the application of selective dry cow therapy will have a profound impact on Italian dairy herds, very likely

Circulating tumor DNA monitoring and blood tumor mutational burden in patients with metastatic solid tumors treated with atezolizumab

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In patients treated with atezolizumab as a part of the MyPathway (NCT02091141) trial, pre‐treatment ctDNA tumor fraction at high levels was associated with poor outcomes (radiographic response, progression‐free survival, and overall survival) but better sensitivity for blood tumor mutational burden (bTMB).

Diurnal Variation in the Somatic Cell Count of Ewe Milk

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1994
The hourly variation of SCC in milk throughout the period between milkings was studied in 60 half udders of 30 Manchega ewes (10 each in first, second, and third parities) for 2 consecutive d. The interval between milkings was 12 h. The effects half udder, sampling time and day, interaction hour by day, and parity were statistically significant and ...

Farmers’ reaction upon receiving economic information in controlling somatic cell count [PDF]

open access: yes
Adoption and implementation of efficient somatic cell count (SCC) control practices is an action of behavioral change, which is notoriously difficult to achieve and sustain, even when substantial production and economic gains are to be expected.

Somatic Cell Count Dairy-Cow Milk. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Results regarding somatic cell count (SCC) out of 9 539 dairy-cow milk samples collected during three years (2010-2012) are discussed. The study comprises eight provinces, manly from western and central regions in Cuba.

Descriptive Analysis of Somatic Cell Count Using Statistical Tools

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2023
Somatic cell count (SCC) can be used as an indicator of subclinical mastitis and its analysis in relation with the milk composition can provide useful information on the existence of some correlations or patterns.

Genomics‐led approach to drug testing in models of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
GA text Genomic data from undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma patients and preclinical models were used to inform a targeted drug screen. Selected compounds were tested in 2D and 3D cultures of UPS cell lines. A combination of trametinib and infigratinib was synergistic in the majority of UPS cell lines tested, which was further confirmed in an ex ...

The association between herd- and cow-level factors and somatic cell count of Irish dairy cows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
peer-reviewedSomatic cell count (SCC) is an indicator of both udder health and milk quality and is measured at an animal level through national milk recording schemes.
