DIAGNOSTIC VALUE OF SOMATOSENSORY EVOKED POTENTIALS IN CERVICAL MYELOPATHY
Background:Cervical myelopathy is a condition caused by narrowing of the spinal canal leading to cord dysfunction. The most common causes are congenital stenosis and degenerative stenosis caused by spondylosis.

Effects of Temporary Clips on Somatosensory Evoked Potentials in Anterior Circulation of Brain Aneurysm Surgery Among Rasul Akram Hospital Patients During 2017-2018 [PDF]
Background and Aim: Cerebrovascular brain incidents especially brain aneurysm ruptures are a major cause of death and disability. Monitoring Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SSEP) and corresponding changes are used for identifying cerebral ischemia and ...

We report a multifunctional tapered optical fiber integrating a conformal micro‐resistance temperature detector (µRTD) for local, real‐time thermometry during optical stimulation. The platform combines light‐delivery and temperature sensing within a minimally invasive footprint, enabling detection of sub‐degree cortical heating under representative ...

Somatosensory Evoked Potentials In Patients With Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy
WOS: 000390945000002While a small number of studies dealing with somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) have demonstrated hyperexcitability in the primary somatosensory cortex of juve-nile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) patients, the underlying mechanisms have ...

Event-Related Potentials Reflect Speech-Relevant Somatosensory-Auditory Interactions
An interaction between orofacial somatosensation and the perception of speech was demonstrated in recent psychophysical studies (Ito et al. 2009; Ito and Ostry 2009).

A Central Somatic Transmission Mediates Proprioceptive Facilitation of Muscle Pain
Zhang et al. uncover a novel central mechanism for persistent muscle pain, in which TRPA1 sensitization in MeV proprioceptive neurons enhances somatic secretion. This, in turn, disinhibits descending pain control from neighboring noradrenergic locus coeruleus neurons via local GABAergic circuits, thereby promoting inflammatory muscle pain.

Visually induced analgesia: seeing the body reduces pain
Given previous reports of strong interactions between vision and somatic senses, we investigated whether vision of the body modulates pain perception. Participants looked into a mirror aligned with their body midline at either the reflection of their own

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.
