Somatotype, Nutrition, and Obesity
Reviews on Environmental Health, 2000The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the somatotype characteristics of the studied group and search for a relation between somatotype, obesity, and particular features of nutrition.Somatotype after Health & Carter (1990), nutritional status according to Body mass index (BMI), and nutrition determined by food-frequency questionnaires.Over 94%

Schizophrenics' Stereotypes about Somatotypes
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1964Ratings on 24 8-point bipolar scales of silhouettes depicting three body types were made by 32 schizophrenics. Analysis of these ratings yielded four stereotypes based on physical rather than psychological perceptions. The data are related to inconsistency of response to others by schizophrenics.

The aim of the study was to test whether an association exists between asthenic somatotype, as measured by the Quetelet index, and panic and or agoraphobia. Ninety-nine cases with panic and/or agoraphobia diagnosed at the psychiatric outpatient clinic of a general teaching hospital were compared to 99 controls with psychiatric conditions other than ...

Familial resemblance in somatotype
American Journal of Human Biology, 1993AbstractParent‐child, sibling, and spouse similarities in Health‐Carter somatotype components are considered in 938 individuals from 243 nuclear families of French Canadian ancestry. Familial correlations were considered for each somatotype component, after adjusting for age, gender, and the other somatotype components.

Plotting somatotypes using SAS/GRAPH
American Journal of Human Biology, 1993AbstractPlotting somatotypes is a convenient method for displaying variation in somatotype distributions. A program for drawing the somatochart and plotting somatotype data using SAS/GRAPH on the IBM mainframe is described. © 1993 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.

A comparison of somatotype methods
American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 1966AbstractIn order to compare Parnell's and Heath's somatotype methods, the authors independently somatotyped a series of 59 adult male and 61 adult female subjects, (1) using the criteria of Heath's method, (2) using the criteria of Parnell's method, and (3) taking into consideration tentatively adapted Parnell criteria in addition to Heath's criteria ...

Variations of Somatotype in elderly Sardinians
American Journal of Human Biology, 2005Somatotyping is an effective technique for the study of anthropometric variations and body composition in elderly subjects, even though it has not often been used in this field. The present study was conducted on a sample of 280 healthy Sardinians (134 men and 146 women) of age 60-89 years, subdivided into three age classes (60-69 years; 70-79 years ...
