Iberian spirantization as a syllable contact process
This paper examines Spanish spirantization as a syllable contact phenomenon subject to the Syllable Preference Laws proposed by Murray and Venneman (1987).

Syllable contact effects as a diachronic precursor to mora licensing in early French /sC/ clusters
This paper proposes that Old French coda /s/ deletion (11th-13th centuries) forms part of a broader diachronic progression of ever-stricter requirements on the sonority contour of /sC/ clusters in syllable contact, reframing part of a well-known moraic ...

The Technique of Optimal Use of Facial Muscles in Trumpet Interpretation
Facial muscles have an overwhelming importance in obtaining a special sonority, a perfect instrumental technique. In fact, through their vibration all sonority is produced by these muscles, and the level of professionalism one can reach depends on their ...

Weight effects and the parametrization of the foot: English versus Portuguese
This article explores the possibility that even though English and Portuguese present similar stress patterns on the surface, the two languages may be formally different: whereas English offers strong evidence for the foot, Portuguese does not.

Opacité et transparence prosodique [PDF]
In this article, we focus on a small set of facts relating to stress in Arabic (Cairo, Damascus, bedouin dialect). McCarthy (2007) makes use of these facts (clear cases of opacity, according to him) to support view involving derivations (underlying ...

Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.
