Structure and Chemistry of Soot and Its Role in Wear of Diesel Engines
Environmental regulations to reduce the emissions using exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) have resulted in higher soot level in the crankcase oil of diesel engines.

Carbon nanoparticles in the acoustic field in the vicinity of the arc discharge [PDF]
The paper considers an effect of intensive ultrasound on the suspension of soot microparticles and nanoparticles in the inert gas, resulting in the coagulation of relatively large soot particles and leading to the improvement of the efficiency of production of nanoparticles, as has been observed in experiments. The effect of the particles charge on the

AbstractA capacitive soot sensor was built up on basis of a known resistive device by covering the electrode area with a thin but dense alumina layer manufactured by the aerosol-deposition-method (ADM). Deposited soot cannot short-circuit the electrodes but leads to an increasing capacitance of the sensor.

Abstract The evolution of organisms can be studied through the lens of developmental systems, as the timing of development of morphological features is an important aspect to consider when studying a phenotype. Such data can be challenging to obtain in fossil amniotes owing to the scarcity of their fossil record. However, the numerous remains of Rancho

Influence of Lowering Soot‐Water Contact Angle on Ice Nucleation of Ozone‐Aged Soot
Organic‐lean and organic‐rich size‐selected soot particles were exposed to a varying O3 concentration, progressively decreasing the soot‐water contact angle (θ) to study its impact on ice nucleation (IN).

Neural canal ridges: A novel osteological correlate of postcranial neuroanatomy in dinosaurs
Abstract In this article, we document the widespread presence of bony ridges in the neural canals of non‐avian dinosaurs, including a wide diversity of sauropods, two theropods, a thyreophoran, and a hadrosaur. These structures are present only in the caudal vertebrae.

Abstract Erlenmeyer shake flasks are widely used during the first steps of bioprocess development. Despite their broad application in academia and industry, shake flasks usually lack standardized and user‐friendly online monitoring techniques. In this work, the pH and Respiratory Activity MOnitoring System (pH‐RAMOS) for the non‐invasive online ...

Raman Spectroscopy of Diesel and Gasoline Engine-Out Soot Using Different Laser Power [PDF]
We studied engine-out soot samples collected from a heavy-duty direct-injection diesel engine and a port-fuel injection gasoline spark-ignition engine. The two types of soot samples were characterized using Raman spectroscopy with different laser power.
