ABSTRACT In this computational study, the reaction of the phenanthryl radical C14H9• (A3•) with molecular and atomic oxygen as part of the reaction mechanism of the oxidation of phenanthrene is investigated. Pathways resulting from the A3• + 3O2 and A3• + O reaction systems are examined using DFT quantum chemistry calculations.

Vocal Fold Kinematics in Phonotrauma From High Speed Videoendoscopy
This study aimed to quantify vocal fold vibratory kinematics associated with phonotraumatic vocal fold lesions. Results found that individuals with phonotrauma had increased vocal fold closing velocity, evidenced by a higher maximum area declination rate, and increased vibrational amplitude.

ABSTRACT Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are often positively associated with mental health conditions. We examined whether emotional support attenuates the association between ACE clusters and both social problem solving and mental health assessments (depression, anxiety, post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms).

Laboratory measurements in a turbulent, swirling flow [PDF]
Measurements of soot inside a flame-tube burner using a special water-flushed probe are discussed. The soot is measured at a series of points at each burner, and upon occasion gaseous constitutents NO, CO, hydrocarbons, etc., were also measured.

ABSTRACT Increasing wildfire activity is driving permafrost thaw in subarctic peatlands across the southern Northwest Territories, but the key mechanisms and progression of thaw following fire remain poorly understood. In response, 10 years (2015–2024) of near‐continuous surface (four‐component radiation, wind, and snow) and subsurface measurements ...

Fungal systematics can feel overwhelming given the vast species diversity within this kingdom, with numerous subgroups at every taxonomic rank. This often creates a disconnect between the undertsnidng of fungal taxonomic diversity and their societal relevance.
