Spin State‐Driven Modulation of Catalytic Activity of an Iron Spin‐Crossover Complex: Toward Switchable Catalysis

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
The spin‐crossover (SCO) complex [Fe(NH2trz)3](NO3)2 catalyzes the acetalization reaction, with the high‐spin (HS) state producing up to 26% more acetal than the low‐spin (LS2) state. Acting as a Lewis acid, the SCO complex shows superior catalytic activity in the HS state due to better access to active sites rather than electronic effects under ...

Internal structure of incipient soot from acetylene pyrolysis obtained via molecular dynamics simulations [PDF]

open access: yes
A series of reactive molecular dynamics simulations is used to study the internal structure of incipient soot particles obtained from acetylene pyrolysis. The simulations were performed using ReaxFF potential at four different temperatures. The resulting soot particles are cataloged and analyzed to obtain statistics of their mass, volume, density, C/H ...

Fuel rich catalytic comustion: The first stage of a two-stage combustor [PDF]

open access: yes
An experimental program demonstrated that fuel-rich catalytic combustion can be accomplished soot free as long as the combustion temperature is less than the temperature at the rich limit of combustion.

Luminescence and Electroanalytical Properties of Carbon Quantum Dots in the Context of Immunosensor Design

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 12, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Two types of carbon quantum dots (CQD‐COOH and CQD‐NH2) are used to modify screen printed carbon electrodes, for detection of Cardiac Troponin I (cTnI). These modified sensors offer promising results for the determination of cTnI in the picomolar range, when, using an immunosensor protocol.

Soot formation in the methane oxygen and methane/oxygen/hydrogen flame [PDF]

open access: yes
The feasibility of using methane, recovered from carbon dioxide by the Sabatier-Senderens reaction, was investigated as a fuel in a reaction control engine. A problem to be avoided is the emission of soot particles.

A Cytotoxic Indazole‐based Gold(III) Carboxamide Pincer Complex Targeting DNA Through Dual Binding Modes of Groove Binding and Alkylation

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 27, May 14, 2025.
Toward new gold(III) anticancer agents. Herein, we report on an indazole‐based gold(III) carboxamide pincer complex exhibiting significant cytotoxicity, likely mediated through dual interactions with DNA. Mechanistic investigations suggest that the complex binds to the DNA and forms specific interactions with nucleotide bases.

Time-resolved LII signals from aggregates of soot particles levitated in room temperature air [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We observed and modeled time-resolved laser-induced incandescence (LII) signals from soot aggregates. Time-resolved LII signals were observed from research-grade soot particles, levitated in room temperature air. We were able to measure sizes and structural properties of our soot particles ex situ, and use those measurements as input parameters when ...

Modified Oxymethylene Ethers Based on Technical Alcohol Mixtures and their Fuel Properties

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 97, Issue 5, Page 495-507, May 2025.
A modified oxymethylene ether (OME) synthesis based on C5 and C9 technical alcohol mixtures was developed. The produced compounds can be employed as neat fuel or as blending component for fossil or paraffinic diesel fuels. The modification of OME offers the possibility to adjust desired properties, enabling the evaluation of new application fields ...
