Model of Soot Formation: Coupling of Turbulence and Soot Chemistry
1994The aim of our study is to model soot formation in the extreme conditions of Diesel engines. The first concept has been to use a formulation for soot formation deduced from the most recent experimental work. However, in order to take into account the effects of turbulence and pressure, associated to soot production, we had to use very simplified ...

1983
In 1775 the London surgeon Sir Percival Pott published a monograph in which he described cancer of the scrotum as an occupational disease of chimney sweeps. In England chimneys which contained soot from burning of coal were cleaned by small boys who were made to climb the flues.

Soot From Fires: II. Mechanisms of Soot Formation
Journal of Fire Sciences, 1985The mechanisms described for soot formation have been reviewed. It is clear that no one simple mechanism can yet totally describe the complex processes in volved. It has been well established that ions have an important role in the nucleation stage, but controversy still surrounds the extent of their importance as precursors of soot.

Impact of the catalyst-soot contact and granulometry on soot oxidation
2017The influence of the contact between catalyst and soot particles and of their granulometry on the soot oxidation under passive regeneration conditions has been analyzed. Carbon black is used as model soot and the catalyst contains 0.7 %wt of Pt and 0.35 %wt of Pd supported on La-stabilized alumina.
