SOOT PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION NEAR THE CYLINDER WALL IN A DIRECT INJECTION DIESEL ENGINE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2018
Investigation of soot particle size and its distribution inside a direct injection diesel engine provides the idea of how soot particles are distributed in an engine cylinder, particularly near the cylinder wall.

Nanoscale Characteristics and Reactivity of Nascent Soot from n-Heptane/2,5-Dimethylfuran Inverse Diffusion Flames with/without Magnetic Fields

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
In this study, the differences of nanostructure and oxidation reactivity of the nascent soot formed in n-heptane/2,5-dimethylfuran (DMF) inverse diffusion flames (IDF) with/without influence of magnetic fields were studied, and the effects of DMF-doped ...

Soot in the Arctic [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Environment (1967), 1981
Abstract Substantial concentrations of graphitic carbon and its associated large optical absorption coefficient are observed in the Arctic. The graphitic content shows a dramatic increase from late fall to early spring, reaching levels that are comparable to those found in urban environments (i.e., the peak values in February are only about a factor ...

Particle formation in oxymethylene ethers (OMEn, n = 2-4) / ethylene premixed flames [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Alternative synthetic fuels can be produced by renewable energy sources and represent a potential route for solving long-term energy storage. Among them, oxygenated fuels have the advantage of significantly reducing pollutant emissions and can therefore be used as carbon-neutral substitute fuels for transportation.

Soot formation and burnout in flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
The amount of soot formed when burning a benzene/hexane mixture in a turbulent combustor was examined. Soot concentration profiles in the same combustor for kerosene fuel are given.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
