Computations of Emissions Using a 3-D Combustor Program [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
A general 3-D combustor performance program developed by Garrett was extended to predict soot and NOx emissions. The soot formation and oxidation rates were computed by quasi-global models, taking into account the influence of turbulence.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Opinion: Eliminating aircraft soot emissions

open access: yes, 2023
Soot from aircraft engines deteriorates air quality around airports and can contribute to climate change primarily by influencing cloud processes and contrail formation. Simultaneously, aircraft engines emit carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and other pollutants which also negatively affect human health and the environment.

Potential contribution of biomass gasification‐based technology in energy transition: a technical review coupled with bibliometric studies

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Biomass gasification technology has been extensively researched around the world; however, there is a need to evaluate the current research landscape and evolutionary direction of research in the broader context of energy transition. A systematic bibliometric analysis of the Web of Science database was performed for articles that fall within ...

Study on the effect of CeMnO catalyst on improving diesel emission performance

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
To reduce diesel emissions while permitting the passive regeneration of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) at low temperatures, we developed three after-treatment DPF devices. These devices consisted of a ceramic body that was either bare or loaded with

Experimental evaluation of thermal radiation and soot concentration rates for syngas flames in lean condition and oxygen enhanced combustion

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2021
The combustion process is a major source of energy for future decades. However, this process negatively impacts the environment with the emission of particulate matter into the atmosphere, known as soot.
