Soot Modeling in Gas Turbine Combustors [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 2: Coal, Biomass and Alternative Fuels; Combustion and Fuels; Oil and Gas Applications; Cycle Innovations, 1997
A method is presented for predicting soot in gas turbine combustors. A soot formation/oxidation model due to Fairweather et al [1992] has been employed. This model has been implemented in the CONCERT code which is a fully elliptic three-dimensional (3-D) body-fitted computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code based on pressure correction techniques.

Uptake Coefficients of Some Volatile Organic Compounds by Soot and Their Application in Understanding Particulate Matter Evolution in Aircraft Engine Exhaust Plumes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
To assist microphysical modeling on particulate matter (PM) evolution emitted from aircraft engines, uptake coefficients of some volatile organic compounds on soot were experimentally determined in this study. The determined values vary from (1.0±0.1)×10⁻

Resource allocation and growth strategies in a multi‐plant firm: Kanegafuchi Spinners in the early 20th century

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Research Summary Using detailed plant‐ and individual‐level data from a major Japanese cotton spinning company in the early 20th century, we examine the within‐firm allocation of skilled human capital in conjunction with investment in physical capital, accompanying the firm's evolving strategic priorities.

Studies on Soot Formation and Combustion in Turbulent Spray Flames: Modeling and Experimental Measurement [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2007
The present study is concerned with measuring and simulating soot formation and combustion in turbulent liquid fuel spray flames. Soot concentrations inside the combustor are measured by filter paper technique.

Influence of diesel surrogates on the behavior of simplified spray models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Numerous experimental investigations make use of diesel surrogates to make the computational time reasonable. In the few studies where measured (surrogate and real diesel) and computed (surrogate only) results have been compared, the selection ...

Export efficiency of black carbon aerosol in continental outflow: Global implications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We use aircraft observations of Asian outflow from the NASA Transport and Chemical Evolution over the Pacific (TRACE-P) mission over the NW Pacific in March–April 2001 to estimate the export efficiency of black carbon (BC) aerosol during lifting to the ...

Exploring Soot Particle Concentration and Emissivity by Transient Thermocouples Measurements in Laminar Partially Premixed Coflow Flames

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
Soot formation in combustion represents a complex phenomenon that strongly depends on several factors such as pressure, temperature, fuel chemical composition, and the extent of premixing. The effect of partial premixing on soot formation is of relevance

Warehouse commodity classification from fundamental principles. Part II: Flame heights and flame spread [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In warehouse storage applications, it is important to classify the burning behavior of commodities and rank them according to their material flammability for early fire detection and suppression operations.

Optical to near-infrared transmission spectrum of the warm sub-Saturn HAT-P-12b [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We present the transmission spectrum of HAT-P-12b through a joint analysis of data obtained from the Hubble Space Telescope Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) and Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) and Spitzer, covering the wavelength range 0.3-5.0 $\mu$
