Direct observation of aliphatic structures in soot particles produced in low-pressure premixed ethylene flames via online Raman spectroscopy

open access: yesProceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2019
Raman spectra of soot particles were monitored in the gaseous flow extracted from the burning regions of two low-pressure premixed ethylene flames, for the first time.

Soot formation and burnout in flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
The amount of soot formed when burning a benzene/hexane mixture in a turbulent combustor was examined. Soot concentration profiles in the same combustor for kerosene fuel are given.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Reactive Laser Additive Manufacturing of Hierarchically Structured Aerogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Reactive laser additive manufacturing transforms printing into a chemically active synthesis step. Salt‐enabled transient reaction environments drive in situ formation of hierarchically structured graphitic aerogels with microtubular and nanoscale features in seconds.

Insights into the role of soot aerosols in cirrus cloud formation [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2007
Cirrus cloud formation is believed to be dominated by homogeneous freezing of supercooled liquid aerosols in many instances. Heterogeneous ice nuclei such as mineral dust, metallic, and soot particles, and some crystalline solids within partially soluble

Complete Scheme for Fullerene, Graphene, and Soot Formation in Flame

open access: yesEurasian Chemico-Technological Journal, 2018
Soot formation processes have been studied for more than 100 years, they include empirical and phenomenological description of conversion of various fuels to soot particles. This article provides an overview of current state of soot formation foundations,
