Soot volume fraction measurements in a forest fuel layer
Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 2014This paper presents an experimental study of soot particles produced during the combustion of Radiata died pine needles. The samples were oven dried at 333 K for 12 h, then the fuel elements were prepared in order to obtain a small cylindrical fuel sample of about 1.50g. The wildland fuel layer was ignited with 0.7 mL of ethanol obtaining a homogeneous

Simultaneous imaging of temperature and soot volume fraction
Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2011This paper demonstrates the first simultaneous single-shot imaging of temperature and soot volume fraction, measured with nonlinear regime two-line atomic fluorescence (NTLAF) and laser-induced incandescence (LII), respectively. The measurements are performed in laminar premixed and nonpremixed flames, and in a wrinkled nonpremixed flame.
