Soricomorpha Gregory 1910

2018
ORDER SORICOMORPHA Gregory, 1910 Soricomorpha, Erinaceomorpha, and Afrosoricida previously composed the single Order Insectivora or Lipotyphla (Hutterer 2005b). Currently, the Order Insectivora has a paraphyletic designation. Since Soricidae has a closer relationship to Erinaceidae than Talpidae, Soricomorpha also seems polyphyletic.

Encephalitozoon infections in Rodentia and Soricomorpha in Japan

Veterinary Parasitology, 2013
Encephalitozoon is an obligate intracellular microsporidian parasite that infects a wide range of mammalian hosts. In this study, we used nested PCR to investigate the presence of Encephalitozoon infection in Rodentia and Soricomorpha in Japan. We attempted to amplify and sequence Encephalitozoon-specific DNA from brain and viscera samples of 180 ...

Demodex labialis sp. nov. (Acariformes: Demodecidae) from the European Mole Talpa europaea in the Context of the Soricomorpha Demodecid Mites

The Annals of zoology
. The biodiversity of parasitic skin mites, including the Demodecidae of soricomorph mammals, is very poorly known. So far only seven species from this family have been described, associated with four host species: two each from the common shrew Sorex ...

Study of the population structure of Sylvisorexgranti Thomas 1907 (Soricomorpha Mammalia), based on craniodental characteristics in the secondary forest of Yoko in Ubundu, D.R. Congo

Cahiers du cedimes
This study treats on the population structure of Sylvisorexgranti Thomas, 1907 based on the cranial and dental data (tooth tear and the stitch between the basi-sphenoid and the basi-occipital) in the secondary forest at Yoko (Oriental in DRC).

Dental polymorphisms inCrocidura(Soricomorpha: Soricidae) and evolutionary diversification of crocidurine shrew dentition

Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2021
AbstractThe upper dentition of Crocidura exhibits polymorphic characters that were revealed for the first time in this study via high-resolution X-ray computed microtomography. Our analyses of 11 Crocidura species and selected Diplomesodon, Suncus and Sylvisorex species from different geographical regions and size groups revealed the most complex ...

Molecular systematics and evolutionary biogeography of the genus Talpa (Soricomorpha: Talpidae)

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2010
The range of the genus Talpa covers almost all Europe up to Western Asia. This genus has never been the object of comprehensive systematic studies using molecular and genetic techniques, such that the evolutionary relationships among species remain unclear.

Communities of small mammals (Soricomorpha, Rodentia) in urbanized environment

Biologia, 2015
The study is focused on analyses of the impact of urbanized environment on the occurrence and structure of small mammals that are important with regard to transmission of diseases to man and domestic animals. The city of Nitra (Slovakia) was chosen as a model area, where an urban - rural gradient was determined.
