Microwave radiation's influence on sorption and competitive sorption in zeolites

AIChE Journal, 2000
AbstractThe influence of microwave radiation on adsorption selectivity was studied using the adsorption and desorption of cyclohexane and methanol on high‐silica zeolites. The amount of microwave energy absorbed depends on the specific system of adsorbent and adsorbate.

Cogon Grass for Oil Sorption: Characterization and Sorption Studies

Key Engineering Materials, 2018
Cogon grass (Imperata cylindrica), an invasive, unwanted grass was used and evaluated for its applicability for the sorption of engine oil. Other than dried and ground for smaller size, no notable treatment was performed on the cogon grass. The physical and chemical properties of cogon grass were characterized by ash content, bulk density, pH slurry ...

Sorption Promotors in Biopharmaceutics

Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1969
AbstractThe absorption of drugs depends on the physico‐chemical properties of the constituent substances. Drugs that are absorbed only with difficulty or only slowly, or even not at all, can be made to penetrate into the skin and the mucous membrane (penetration) or to pass through them (permeation) with the aid of “sorption promotors”.

Sorption of Liquids on Impurities in Polymers, As Affected by the Sorption History

Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2018
An unusual effect is observed that occurs during the sorption of liquids by polymers: The sorption flux directed from the liquid into the polymer bulk transfers only the sorbate, while the spontaneously established backward flux carries a sorbate‒impurity complex into the liquid. It is shown that this effect can be used to remove hydrophilic impurities

Sorption of anionic polysaccharides by cellulose

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2012
The sorption of anionic polysaccharides pectin, alginate, and xanthan with cellulose were investigated in presence of calcium. Calcium sorption to cellulose was limited by the carboxyl group content in fibers. Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) analysis was used to measure the calcium in cellulose fibers and chemical oxygen demand (COD) analysis ...

Numerical determination of the sorption isotherm for nonisothermal sorption

Computational Mathematics and Modeling, 2009
Two mathematical models of sorption dynamics are considered, one allowing for external diffusion kinetics and the other for internal diffusion kinetics with heat balance. Two inverse problems are investigated for these models and numerical solutions are proposed. The efficiency of the numerical methods is studied in a computer experiment.

The sorption of water by rubber

Journal of Polymer Science, 1956
AbstractAn equation is derived from the consideration of an osmotic mechanism of absorption to represent the absorption–time relationship for a vulcanized rubber immersed in water. The dependence of absorption equilibrium on the relative humidity is also expressed quantitatively.
