The Design and Optimization of Nonwoven Composite Boards on Sound Absorption Performance

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
This study aims to investigate the optimal value of design parameters for the sound-absorbing nonwoven composite board. The number of laminated layers and thickness of polyester fiber are viewed as the design parameters for fabricating the nonwoven composite board.

The impact of the neck material on the sound absorption performance of Helmholtz resonators

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2014
Abstract Helmholtz resonators with sound absorption materials filling the neck may have an improved sound absorption capacity. In this work, parallel perforated ceramics with different perforation diameters were installed into the neck of a Helmholtz resonator to improve its acoustic impedance to simultaneously achieve a better acoustic absorption ...

Experimental Research on Sound Absorption Performance of Low-Noise Pavement

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
OGFC can reduce traffic noise which has very high air-void contents to absorb tire-pavement noise. This paper proposes maximum aggregate size and aggregate gradation of OGFC with the objective void of 20%. Performance of modified asphalt and best asphalt-aggregate ratio are also proposed with four kinds of modifiers, including SBS, rubber, EVA and PVC.

Sound absorption performance of corncob/hemp composite fabric material

Textile Research Journal
Agro-industrial waste corncob was used to develop a new thin corncob/hemp composite fabric (CHCF) material to improve the sound absorption performance of fiber materials. CHCF materials were prepared from agro-industrial waste corncob pellets and natural hemp fiber by spreading corncob pellets in hemp fiber webs, layering, and high-temperature ...

Weight Minimization of Sound Packages by Balancing Absorption and Transmission Performance

2019
Generally, heavier noise control treatments are favored over lighter ones since heavier acoustical materials tend to insulate (block) noise sources more effectively than do lighter materials. In automotive applications, however, heavier materials cannot always be adopted because of concerns over the total weight of the vehicle. Thus, it would be useful
