From Wafers to Electrodes: Transferring Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) for Multiscale Characterization of Smart Battery Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Automat optical inspection (AOI) techniques in semiconductor fabrication can be leveraged in battery manufacturing, enabling scalable detection and analysis of electrode‐ and cell‐level imperfections through AI‐driven analytics and a digital‐twin framework.

Collective modes and sound propagation in a p-wave superconductor: Sr$_2$RuO$_4$

open access: yes, 2000
There are five distinct collective modes in the recently discovered p-wave superconductor Sr$_2$RuO$_4$; phase and amplitude modes of the order parameter, clapping mode (real and imaginary), and spin wave. The first two modes also exist in the ordinary s-

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.

Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence in Phase‐Separated Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A supramolecular, phase‐separation driven strategy yields charge transfer (CT) complexes from alternating electron‐deficient pyromellitic diimide and electron‐rich 4,5‐dibromoveratrole. The resulting CT complexes self‐assemble into lamellar nanosheets with nanometer‐sized domains that exhibit thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) at room ...

THE PHONOLOGICAL PROCESS OF THE SUFFIX /-i/ IN THE JAVANESE LANGUAGE: A GENERATIVE PHONOLOGY APPROACH [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This research explains the Javanese sound distribution, the sound change that is caused by the suffix /-i/, and the phonological process of the base word that is attached by the suffix /-i/. The data used in this study are from the utterances of Javanese

Anharmonic vs. relaxational sound damping in glasses: II. Vitreous silica

open access: yes, 2005
The temperature dependence of the frequency dispersion in the sound velocity and damping of vitreous silica is reanalyzed. Thermally activated relaxation accounts for the sound attenuation observed above 10 K at sonic and ultrasonic frequencies.

Artificial Intelligence as the Next Visionary in Liquid Crystal Research

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The functions of AI in the research laboratory are becoming increasingly sophisticated, allowing the entire process of hypothesis formulation, material design, synthesis, experimental design, and reiterative testing to be automated. In our work, we conceive how the incorporation of AI in the laboratory environment will transform the role and ...

A Classification of the Nicobarese languages

open access: yesJournal of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society, 2022
In this paper, I report the results of a computational phylogenetic experiment based on a modified Swadesh 100 list intended to provide indications of the internal branching of the Nicobarese languages.

The gradient influence of temporal extent of coarticulation on vowel and speaker perception

open access: yesLaboratory Phonology, 2018
Coarticulation makes vowels in context acoustically different from context-free vowels. Listeners sometimes compensate by ascribing these acoustic effects to their source, but the conditions under which they do so have not yet been fully pinpointed ...

QCD-Thermodynamics using 5-dim Gravity

open access: yes, 2011
We calculate the critical temperature and free energy of the gluon plasma using the dilaton potential arXiv:0911.0627[hep-ph] in the gravity theory of AdS/QCD.
