Observation of Topological Chirality Switching Induced Freezing of a Skyrmion Crystal

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using Lorentz Transmission electron microscopy, it is shown that in the insulating van der Waals ferromagnet, CrBr3, a magnetic field can cause Bloch skyrmionic bubbles to spontaneously switch their chirality. As achiral type‐II bubbles are an intermediate state, the bubbles rapidly elongate and shrink when switching, thereby inducing a freezing of the

Comment: ‘Knock, Knock: Where is the Evidence for Dangerous Human-Caused Global Warming?’ by Robert M. Carter [PDF]

open access: yes
Carter (2008) notes that for climate change “sound science [sic] understanding is an essential prerequisite to any meaningful economic analysis”. Unfortunately his paper contains serious and systematic errors and misrepresentations about the causes and ...

Moth‐Wing‐Inspired Multifunctional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a moth‐wing‐inspired heterogeneous metamaterial that achieves synergistic broadband sound absorption, mechanical energy dissipation, and thermal insulation within a lightweight architected framework. Combining bioinspired gradient design, genetic‐algorithm optimization, and additive manufacturing, the bionic heterogeneous acoustic ...

Multiphysics‐Driven Assembly of Biomimetic Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial extracellular vesicles, derived from cell membranes, are manufactured using a multiphysics‐integrated microfluidic platform that combines nanoknife membrane rupture, herringbone chaotic mixing, and acoustothermal modulation. This standardizable workflow enables the predictable control of vesicle formation and therapeutic loading, while ...

The Determinants of NFL Ticket Prices: What Managers May Consider when Pricing Tickets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Our purpose of this study is to determine what factors contribute to NFL ticket prices across teams and over time. After creating a theoretically sound model based on past economic studies, a panel data set was constructed based on the 32 NFL teams from ...

Hots-aldaketaren inguruan / About sound change

open access: yesAnuario del Seminario de Filología Vasca "Julio de Urquijo", 2018
Hugo Schuchardt's criticism of the neogrammarians in his «Über die Lautgesetze: Gegen die Junggrammatiker» is the starting point of this paper. In Schuchardt's critical arguments interesting ideas may be found that still deserve our attention.

PI-Effects in South Bantu: Consonant Changes Due to a Preceding Front Close Vowel

open access: yesLanguages
An important set of sound changes affected the South Bantu languages through the impact of front vowels on following consonants, most notably under the form of the class 5 nominal prefix *i-.
