Advanced Framework for Animal Sound Classification With Features Optimization

open access: yes
The automatic classification of animal sounds presents an enduring challenge in bioacoustics, owing to the diverse statistical properties of sound signals, variations in recording equipment, and prevalent low Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) conditions.

The Importance of Cross Database Evaluation in Sound Classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In numerous articles (Martin and Kim, 1998; Fraser and Fujinaga, 1999; and many others) sound classification algorithms are evaluated using "self classification" - the learning and test groups are randomly selected out of the same sound database. We will

Adsorption of Forever Chemical Pollutants: The Physical Chemistry of PFAS Near Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current adsorption‐based remediation techniques for removing per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water are limited by knowledge gaps on PFAS behavior near solid surfaces. This review provides a state of the art on theoretical and experimental aspects of PFAS adsorption.

Lung Sound Classification using Enhanced MFCC, Histogram, and Data Mining

open access: yes, 2020
Chronic illnesses such as respiratory diseases are among the major health threats globally. Tuberculosis (TB) is a major public health concern worldwide and the world’s second most common cause of death from infectious disease after HIV/AIDs. Fortunately,

Causal‐Guided Ultra‐Long‐Term Time Series Forecasting Via Anticipated Covariates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Often treated as unknown, information from the future remains underutilized. We demonstrate that in a coupled dynamical system, providing the future state of the effect enables accurate forecasting of the cause for a long timesteps. A time series forecasting paradigm that introduces anticipated covariates to represent such known future states is ...

Sound classification based on temporal feature integration

open access: yes, 2010
The present work contributes to the field of generalized sound classification. We extensively examine the performance of the next three feature sets: a) MPEG-7 Audio Spectrum Projection, b) MFCC (using an alternative method for their extraction) and c) a

AI‐Assisted Digital Single‐Molecule Activity Tracker for Decoupling Intrinsic Heterogeneity from Photo‐Oxidative Damage in High‐Photon‐Flux Enzymology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Employing a digital single‐molecule activity tracker (dSMAT), this research demonstrates that high‐photon‐flux irradiation drives progressive oxidative scarring in polymerases. Unlike simple thermal denaturation, real‐time kinetic tracking dynamically visualizes enzymes degrading into multiple impaired subpopulations.

A Metal‐Phenolic Nanocluster Orchestrates Mito‐Ca2+ Metabolic Autonomy for Tumor Ca2+ Interference Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor Ca2+ interference therapy suffers from self‐protective Ca2+ metabolic autoregulation. In this scenario, a versatile metal‐phenolic nanocluster (TCMH) is engineered to modulate mitochondrial calcium uniporter (MCU) ‐mediated mito‐Ca2+ metabolic autonomy.
