Few-Shot Sound Event Detection

ICASSP 2020 - 2020 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2020
Locating perceptually similar sound events within a continuous recording is a common task for various audio applications. However, current tools require users to manually listen to and label all the locations of the sound events of interest, which is tedious and time-consuming.

Indoor Event Detection with Sound Data

2021 Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications Conference (ASYU), 2021
Today, interest in sound data increases rapidly because of easy access and effectiveness of usage. Especially in indoor event recognition, sound data is a great candidate. In this paper, we focus on creating a prediction system that uses sound data for indoor event detection.

Sound-event partitioning and feature normalization for robust sound-event detection

2014 19th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing, 2014
The ubiquitous of smartphones has opened up the possibility of mobile acoustic surveillance. However, the continuous operation of surveillance systems calls for efficient algorithms to conserve battery consumption. This paper proposes a power-efficient sound-event detector that exploits the redundancy in the sound frames.

Robust scream sound detection via sound event partitioning

Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2015
This paper proposes a robust scream-sound detection scheme for acoustic surveillance applications. To enhance the discriminability between scream and non-scream sounds, a sound-event partitioning (SEP) method that facilitates the extraction of multiple acoustic vectors from a single sound event is developed.

Sound event detection using cochlea information

[1992] Proceedings of the IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis, 2003
A technique for detection of sound events based on the attention and gestalt perception, two basic principles that are widely used by man for detection and recognition of sound events, is discussed. In particular, an array of cochlear perceptors (ACP) is proposed as a tool for analysis of a sound scene and as a suitable basis for implementation of both

Improving sound event detection with ontologies

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2023
Sound event recognition is the task of identifying and categorizing sounds in audio data. Automated algorithms for sound event recognition depend on having explicit models for individual sound event types to be recognized, which are trained on data tagged explicitly for those classes.

SnoreNet: Detecting Snore Events from Raw Sound Recordings

2019 41st Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2019
Snoring is one of the earliest symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS). Snore detection is the first step in developing non-invasive, low-cost, and totally sound-based OSAHS analysis approaches. In this work, we propose a simple yet effective deep neural network, named SnoreNet, for detecting snores from a continuous sound ...
