Sound Pressure on Spheres

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1940
The theory of King for the radiation pressure exerted by plane progressive waves on spheres has been used to compute the constants for spheres of radii (r) of the order of a wave-length (λ) of the sound in the medium. These are given for integer values of α = 2πr/λ from 1 to 11, and for α = 15 and 20.

Sound pressure of thunder

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1971
Recently several workers have developed theories to explain the characteristics of the pressure wave associated with thunder. Few et al. [1967] presented approximate calculations for a cylindrical shock wave. Jones et al. [1968] have extended the strong-shock solution into the acoustic region.

Sound pressure level meter

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982
A sound pressure level meter adapted for use in monitoring noise levels, particularly for use by law enforcement agencies wherein the device includes means for providing a logarithmic indication of the root mean square value of ambient sound pressure levels and wherein means are provided for holding and displaying a maximum sound pressure level ...

Mechanical Pressure-Gradient-to-Pressure Sound Transducer

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1961
In places of high ambient-noise level, the use of electrical devices as an aid to speech communication is sometimes precluded by safety requirements. A mechanical device may then be used provided that the individuals concerned are close to each other.

Unidirectional Underwater-Sound Pressure-Gradient Transducer

IEEE Transactions on Sonics and Ultrasonics, 1970
Results are presented for the design, construction, and calibration of an experimental, low-frequency, pressure-gradient, underwater sound transducer that utilizes a liquid-filled, acoustic phase-shift network to obtain a unidirectional (cardioid) directivity response over a prescribed frequency range.
