Recognition of Environmental Sounds in Autistic Children
Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, 1988Abstract Environmental sound recognition was tested in children with an autistic disorder, along with recognition of spoken words for the same target items, using a picture-matching task. No overall difference between sound and word recognition scores was observed for either autistic or normal subjects.

Environmental Sounds Recognition with Convolutional-LSTM
2019 IEEE 8th Global Conference on Consumer Electronics (GCCE), 2019This paper addresses the task of recognizing environmental sounds using the AudioSet data set. Specifically, features were extracted by spectrogram conversion of AudioSet's 10-second sound data, and learning was performed by neural network with 3 layer CNN and the one layer CLSTM, and a comparison experiment with the LSTM model was performed.

Automatic sound recognition for the hearing impaired
IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 2008We present a wearable sound recognition system to assist the hearing impaired. Traditionally, hearing aid dogs are specially trained to facilitate the daily life of the hearing impaired. However, since training hearing aid dogs is costly and time-consuming, it would be desirable to substitute them with an automatic sound recognition system using speech

Vehicle Sounds and Recognition
1978The acoustic waveform that is of interest in the processing described in this chapter is obtained by recording the noise from a vehicle under normal operating conditions; it is a complex signal in which the characteristics of the engine, the exhaust system, the bodywork, and the environment are all intermingled.

The sound of accurate recognition memory decisions
Psychonomic Bulletin & ReviewMetacognitive confidence in memory judgments is typically assessed with a numeric self-report rating scale, a measurement approach that reliably predicts judgment accuracy but may also capture individual differences unrelated to memory per se. Recent research in perceptual discrimination suggests that the acoustical features of verbally rendered ...

In this paper, two different methods to implement one particular aspect of music transcription – musical note recognition – are presented. Both methods make use of existing algorithms in the form of the Constant-Q Transform (CQT) and the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). Each existing algorithm is modified or extended so that a musical note recognition

A sound recognition method with incrementally taking sound stream into consideration
2016 IEEE 5th Global Conference on Consumer Electronics, 2016Domestic sound recognition is an important ability for our daily lives. Although we can recognize sounds as they arrive, conventional automatic sound/speech recognition systems cannot behave in a similar manner. This paper proposes a domestic sound recognition method that can incrementally take sound streams into consideration during the progress of ...

Musical Sound Recognition by Active Learning PNN
2006In this work an active learning PNN was used to recognize instru-mental sounds. LPC and MFCC coefficients with different orders were used as features. The best analysis orders were found by using passive PNNs and these sets were used with active learning PNNs. By realizing some experiments, it was shown that the entire performance was improved by using
