Underdetermined Blind Source Separation of Temporomandibular Joint Sounds [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2006
The underdetermined blind source separation problem using a filtering approach is addressed. An extension of the FastICA algorithm is devised which exploits the disparity in the kurtoses of the underlying sources to estimate the mixing matrix and thereafter achieves source recovery by employing the ll-norm algorithm.

Unique Methods for Determining the Attenuation and Delay in Blind Source Separation Based on the Degenerate Unmixing Estimation Technique

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
The degenerate unmixing estimation technique (DUET), enables facile sound source separation through two signal mixtures. However, in numerous practical situations, identifying peaks in DUET histograms is difficult, which in turn prevents effective source

A multichannel learning-based approach for sound source separation in reverberant environments

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Audio, Speech, and Music Processing, 2021
In this paper, a multichannel learning-based network is proposed for sound source separation in reverberant field. The network can be divided into two parts according to the training strategies.

Source separation in ecoacoustics: a roadmap towards versatile soundscape information retrieval

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, 2020
A comprehensive assessment of ecosystem dynamics requires the monitoring of biological, physical and social changes. Changes that cannot be observed visually may be trackable acoustically through soundscape analysis. Soundscapes vary greatly depending on

Active Audio-Visual Separation of Dynamic Sound Sources

open access: yes, 2022
We explore active audio-visual separation for dynamic sound sources, where an embodied agent moves intelligently in a 3D environment to continuously isolate the time-varying audio stream being emitted by an object of interest. The agent hears a mixed stream of multiple audio sources (e.g., multiple people conversing and a band playing music at a noisy ...

Frequency-dependent auto-pooling function for weakly supervised sound event detection

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Audio, Speech, and Music Processing, 2021
Sound event detection (SED), which is typically treated as a supervised problem, aims at detecting types of sound events and corresponding temporal information. It requires to estimate onset and offset annotations for sound events at each frame.

Robust Auditory Functions Based on Probabilistic Integration of MUSIC and CGMM

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Sound source localization and separation are essential functions for robot audition to comprehend acoustic environments. The widely-used multiple signal classification (MUSIC) can precisely estimate the directions of arrival (DoAs) of multiple sound ...

Multiple Sound Source Localization Using SVD-PHAT-ATV on Blind Source Separation

open access: yesIEEE Access
Estimating the location of a target sound source is an important task in many fields. The blind source separation (BSS) algorithm is closely related to the multiple sound source localization problem.
