Multilayer Soft Photonic Arrays Inspired by Cephalopod Skin for High‐Density, Independent, and Multimodal Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A vertically stacked, DEA‐driven photonic array inspired by cephalopod skin, featuring highly crystalline colloidal crystal gels with vivid color, low FWHM and scalability is presented. The multilayer design removes lateral pixel interference, achieving near‐100% fill factor with fully independent RGB actuation.

End-to-end Sound Source Separation Conditioned on Instrument Labels [PDF]

open access: yesICASSP 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2019
Can we perform an end-to-end music source separation with a variable number of sources using a deep learning model? We present an extension of the Wave-U-Net model which allows end-to-end monaural source separation with a non-fixed number of sources.

Pixelation‐Free, Monolithic Iontronic Pressure Sensors Enabling Large‐Area Simultaneous Pressure and Position Recognition via Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pixelation‐free, monolithic iontronic pressure sensor enables simultaneous pressure and position sensing over large areas. AC‐driven ion release generates spatially varying impedance pathways depending on the pressure. Machine learning algorithms effectively decouple overlapping pressure–position signals from the multichannel outputs, achieving high ...

Underdetermined Source Separation Based on Generalized Multichannel Variational Autoencoder

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper deals with a multichannel audio source separation problem under underdetermined conditions. Multichannel non-negative matrix factorization (MNMF) is a powerful method for underdetermined audio source separation, which adopts the NMF concept to

Analysis of moving sound sources. Separation of multiple sources.

open access: yesJournal of the Acoustical Society of Japan (E), 1989
This paper proposes the identification and separation method of multiple sound sources on a single moving object. The proposed method is based on the compensation of the Doppler effect for a specific sound source and uses the difference of temporal characteristics between the specific sound source and others.

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.
