Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

Sensory substitution: the spatial updating of auditory scenes ‘mimics’ the spatial updating of visual scenes

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2016
Visual-to-auditory sensory substitution is used to convey visual information through audition, and it was initially created to compensate for blindness; it consists of software converting the visual images captured by a video-camera into the equivalent ...

Miniature Soft Robot With Magnetically Reprogrammable Surgical Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Miniature soft robots have great prospects to revolutionize minimally invasive treatments. Here we present a miniature soft robot, which can be reprogrammed to perform five surgical functionalities with six‐degrees‐of‐freedom motions. This soft robot can prospectively make minimally invasive surgery considerably safer and painless, and enable ...

Sounds on key equivocation for simple substitution ciphers

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1979
The equivocation of the key for a simple substitution cipher is upper and lower hounded, when the message source is memoryless. The hounds are shown to be exponentially tight. The results are compared with random ciphering. It is observed that the exponential behavior of the equivocation of the key is not determined by the redundancy in the message ...

An investigation into inconsistencies between theoretical predictions and microphone array measurements of railway rolling noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Theoretical models, such as TWINS, and microphone array measurements have been widely used to gain better understanding of rolling noise. However, the array measurements are often inconsistent with the TWINS predictions and give less prominence to the ...

Ferroelectric Dynamic‐Field‐Driven Nucleation and Growth Model for Predictive Materials‐To‐Circuit Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a compact dynamic‐field‐driven nucleation and growth (DFNG) model that captures ferroelectric switching behavior under arbitrary voltage waveforms. It enables extraction of time‐dependent domain wall velocity and growth dimensionality, which can then be extended to device‐level modeling.
