Abstract This chapter analyzes four sound-symbolic adverbs, all of which concern various types of falling. Palay describes the rapid falling of a group of objects or entities from a relatively high vantage point. Pak describes the contact made by a falling object or sub stance which is in some way reconfigured by that fall.
