Dynamic Performance Enhancement of a High‐Agility Hypersonic Mechanical System via a Learning‐Augmented Robust Control Architecture

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The design of control systems for high‐agility mechanical systems operating in extreme environments is a significant challenge in nonlinear dynamics. This paper addresses the complex dynamic control problem of a hypersonic interceptor, modeled as a multi‐input multi‐output (MIMO) mechanical system characterized by strong aerodynamic cross ...

Sounding Rockets are unique Experimental Platforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Sounding rockets are unique experimental platforms! They are unmanned, readily available, cost-effective and can achieve both, in-situ measurements or flight experimentation in all layers of the atmosphere and multi-minute operations in space with ...

Sounding Rocket Preliminary Design

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Engineering and Technology Research, 2021
This article aims at studying sounding rocket (SR) class, or those vehicles launched from the earth and carrying out various experiments at high altitudes. After the end of their mission, rockets should deliver a payload to a given point or to give range. In general, design tasks are divided into direct and inverse ones.

How can children and young people have a voice in urban treescapes?

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Scientific understanding of climate change has, to date, failed to result in sufficient action. This paper proposes that a deficit model of top‐down learning and dissemination in relation to public engagement with science may be part of the problem, particularly when considering the attitudes, values and empowerment of children and young ...

Unsaturated biobased polyesters from bicyclic α‐pinene‐based diols

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
We present the synthesis of four biosourced unsaturated polyesters made from chiral terpene‐based diols and esters of renewable diacids. The resulting materials harbor a bicyclic pinene ring in their backbones which leads to enhanced thermal properties while still conferring susceptibility to enzyme hydrolysis for chains having a cis alkene.

Ascent Problems of Sounding Rockets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1961
Sounding rockets are rocket vehicles designed to carry scientific payloads above the sensible level of the atmosphere. The trajectories of these rockets are very steep, and as a consequence, two important problems arise.

Intelligent denoiser of plasma waves by SS-520-3 sounding rocket experiment toward future EMC challenges in miniaturized platform chassis

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is a standard test to ensure that electromagnetic instruments used in scientific experiments, such as those on spacecraft, CubeSats, and sounding rockets, operate without causing interference.

Observational Results of Electron Density and Temperature in the Polar Ionosphere by S-210JA-20 and 21 Rockets (e. Event Session) (Proceedings of the Second Symposium on Coordinated Observations of the Ionosphere and the Magnetosphere in the Polar Regions : Part II)

open access: yesAntarctic Record, 1980
Two sounding rockets, S-210JA-20 and 21, were launched into the disturbed ionosphere from Syowa Station, Antarctica, in the winter of 1976 for measuring electron density and temperature.
