Review on the impact of elevated CO2concentrations on fruit species in the face of climate change

open access: yesCiencia y Tecnología Agropecuaria, 2022
Since the industrial revolution, anthropogenic activities have increased atmospheric CO2concentration—one of the major causes of global warming—with a 600 to 700 ppm prediction by the end of this century.

Source–Sink Relations in Non-dormant and Dormant Blueberry Production Systems

open access: yesHortScience, 1998
Two cultivars of southern highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum interspecific hybrid) were grown in containers under the traditional dormant production system or the non-dormant production system. Plants in the non-dormant production system were maintained by continuous N fertilization throughout the year.

Mapping the “Supply–Demand–Flow” of Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Management in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a “supply–demand–flow” framework clarifies how ecosystem services move between regions by distinguishing potential and actual supply and demand. Using integrated biophysical–socioeconomic modeling, nine services in China were mapped.

Data‐Driven Modeling of Composition–Processing–Microstructure Relations for Recycled Aluminum Cast Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interpretable machine learning reveals how composition and processing govern the formation and microstructural burden of Fe‐rich intermetallic compounds in recycled Al–Si–Fe–Mn alloys. By separating morphology selection from morphology‐conditioned burden partitioning, this framework shows that identical Fe contents can yield different intermetallic ...

A note on withdrawal from a two-layer fluid through a line sink in a porous medium

open access: yes, 2008
The steady response of the free surface of a fluid in a porous medium is considered during extraction of the fluid through a line sink. A conformal-mapping approach is used to derive exact solutions to a family of problems in which the line sink is ...

Source-Sink Relations in North American Ginseng Seedlings as Influenced by Leaflet Removal [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Ginseng Research, 2008
Seedlings of North American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius L.) were grown to full canopy establishment and then leaflet or leaf removal at different times applied to determine the effects on plant growth and performance. Leaf removal at 47, 57, 69 and 78 days after seeding resulted in 82.1, 59.8, 41.3 and 29.8% reduction, respectively, in root dry matter

Twisted MoS2 Bilayers as Functional Elements in Memtransistors: Hysteresis, Optical Signatures, and Photocurrent Kinetics

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Layered 2D materials are considered as promising for memristive applications due to their ultimate vertical scalability compared to conventional semiconductor films and pronounced hysteresis properties. Bias‐resolved Raman and Photoluminescence mapping is used to quantify strain from phonon shifts and carrier density from the exciton‐trion ...

The Swiss carbon balance: methods, state of reporting and research perspectives. COST E21 Workshop. Contribution of forests and forestry to mitigate greenhouse effects. Joensuu (Finland). 28-30 Sep 2000. [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2000
For the 1990-1998 period, Switzerland reported an annual sink strength of Swiss forests of 4500-6000 Gg CO2. In its latest submission in 2000, newly available national forest inventory (NFI) data were used to refine earlier estimates.

Carbon stocks and sinks in forestry for the unitéd Kingdom greenhouse gas inventory. COST E21 Workshop. Contribution of forests and forestry to mitigate greenhouse effects. Joensuu (Finland). 28-30 Sep 2000 [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2000
Afforestation in the UK has been significant and continuing since 1920 (up to 30,000 ha per year). Planting data is used to drive a dynamic process-based carbon accounting model (C-Flow) to estimate removals of atmospheric CO2 to these forests.
