Understanding the catalytic role of oxalic acid in SO3 hydration to form H2SO4 in the atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2019
The hydration of SO3 plays an important role in atmospheric sulfuric acid formation. Some atmospheric species can be involved in and facilitate the reaction.

Kinsenoside Targets IDH1 to Restore Microglial Immune‐Metabolic Homeostasis for Alzheimer's Disease Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dysregulated TCA cycle contributes to Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis. Here, we show that microglial isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) is a critical driver. Elevated IDH1 disrupts citrate metabolism and mitochondrial function, exacerbating AD pathology.

Analysis of Composition Differences between Huazhou Citri Grandis Exocarpium and Guangxi Citri Grandis Exocarpium Based on Portable GC-MS and HS/SPME-GC×GC-TOF MS

open access: yesZhipu Xuebao
The volatile components of Citri Grandis Exocarpium from Huazhou (CGEH) and Guangxi (CGEG) were analyzed by portable gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC×GC-

Modeling and source apportionment of diesel particulate matter [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2008
The fine and ultra fine sizes of diesel particulate matter (DPM) are of greatest health concern. The composition of these primary and secondary fine and ultra fine particles is principally elemental carbon (EC) with adsorbed organic compounds, sulfate, nitrate, ammonia, metals, and other trace elements.

Did the Indian Green Revolution Change the Farm Size–Productivity Relationship?

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examine the relationship between farm size and productivity during India's Green Revolution, a period of rapid technological transformation. Using a unique panel of over 5000 Indian farm households that spans the Green Revolution (1971–1999), we show that the classic (linear) inverse farm size–productivity relationship gradually evolved ...

Foreign Language Learning in Older Adults Modifies Resting‐State Functional Connectivity Between the Subcortical Structures and the Cortex

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
Foreign language learning in older adults reorganizes thalamic and caudate connectivity, in a process topographically overlapping with the expression of receptors and genes related to neuroplasticity. ABSTRACT Objectives Neuroimaging studies suggest that Foreign Language Learning (FLL) influences resting‐state functional connectivity (rs‐FC) within the

Source identification and quantification of particulate matter emitted from livestock houses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
There is need to identify and quantify the contribution of different sources to airborne particulate matter (PM) emissions from animal houses. To this end, we compared the chemical and morphological characteristics of fine and coarse PM from known ...

Analyzing individual rent price ratios in eastern German agricultural land markets: A GAMLSS approach

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract This study explores the rent price ratio in agricultural land markets, crucial for evaluating market efficiency, policy needs, and farmer decision‐making. Traditionally, the analyses faced challenges due to the absence of concurrent sale and rent data for the same land, potentially leading to biased results.

Aromatic hydrocarbons as ozone precursors before and after outbreak of the 2008 financial crisis in the Pearl River Delta region, south China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In the second half of 2008 China's highly industrialized Pearl River Delta (PRD) region was hard-hit by the financial crisis (FC). This study reports volatile organic compounds measured in the PRD during November-December in both 2007 before the FC and ...

Scale‐up of Streptomyces species cultivations based on the morphological response to the energy dissipation rate

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Filamentous microorganisms exhibit complex morphologies that influence product formation and are affected by various bioprocess parameters. Consistent morphology is therefore essential for comparable results during scale‐up. This study investigates the scale‐up of Streptomyces species (Streptomyces spp.) cultivations from shake flasks to ...
