Finite-Length Analyses for Source and Channel Coding on Markov Chains

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
We derive finite-length bounds for two problems with Markov chains: source coding with side-information where the source and side-information are a joint Markov chain and channel coding for channels with Markovian conditional additive noise.

Whether and Where to Code in the Wireless Relay Channel

open access: yes, 2012
The throughput benefits of random linear network codes have been studied extensively for wirelined and wireless erasure networks. It is often assumed that all nodes within a network perform coding operations.

Efficient file synchronization: A distributed source coding approach [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Symposium on Information Theory. Proceedings, 2011
The problem of reconstructing a source sequence with the presence of decoder side-information that is mis-synchronized to the source due to deletions is studied in a distributed source coding framework.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

On the Complexity Reduction of Coding WSS Vector Processes by Using a Sequence of Block Circulant Matrices

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
In the present paper, we obtain a result on the rate-distortion function (RDF) of wide sense stationary (WSS) vector processes that allows us to reduce the complexity of coding those processes.

Gaussian Source Coding using a Simple Switched Quantization Algorithm and Variable Length Codewords

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2020
This paper introduces an algorithm based on switched scalar quantization utilizing a novel Îź-law quantization model (optimized in terms of minimal distortion) and variable length codewords, for high-quality encoding of the signals modeled by Gaussian ...

The Three-User Finite-Field Multi-Way Relay Channel with Correlated Sources

open access: yes, 2013
This paper studies the three-user finite-field multi-way relay channel, where the users exchange messages via a relay. The messages are arbitrarily correlated, and the finite-field channel is linear and is subject to additive noise of arbitrary ...

Secure Multiterminal Source Coding With Side Information at the Eavesdropper [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2011
The problem of secure multiterminal source coding with side information at the eavesdropper is investigated. This scenario consists of a main encoder (referred to as Alice) that wishes to compress a single source but simultaneously satisfying the desired

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
