Successive Coding of Correlated Sources

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2007
The rate-distortion (RD) problem for two-layer coding of a pair (X,Y) of correlated sources is considered. The first layer information enables reconstruction of X within a certain distortion DX, while reception of both layers additionally enables reconstruction of Y within distortion DY.

Runlength codes from source codes

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1991
A class of binary runlength codes, also known as (d,k) codes, is analyzed. These codes are developed by constructing a lossless source code that maps runlengths into unconstrained binary sequences. The source code is constructed for the maxentropic distribution on runlengths.

On Multiterminal Source Code Design

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2005
Multiterminal (MT) source coding refers to separate lossy encoding and joint decoding of multiple correlated sources. This paper presents two practical MT coding schemes under the same general framework of Slepian-Wolf coded quantization (SWCQ) for both direct and indirect quadratic Gaussian MT source coding problems with two encoders.

Source coding with feedforward: gaussian sources

International Symposium onInformation Theory, 2004. ISIT 2004. Proceedings., 2004
This paper describes the source coding of the information signals with feedforward Gaussian sources. A stationary memoryless Gaussian source with zero-mean and variance, and with mean squared error as the distortion measure, gives a deterministic scheme that achieves the optimal rate-distortion bound using simple uniform scalar quantizers.

Linear codes for sources and source networks: Error exponents, universal coding

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1982
Consider a correlated source consisting of identically distributed, independent pairs \(\{(X_i,Y_i)\}_{i=-\infty}^\infty\) with all the \(X_i\)'s selected from a finite Galois field \(A\) with \(| A|\) elements, and all the \(Y_i\)'s selected from a finite Galois field \(B\) with \(| B|\) elements. For any pair \((R_x,R_y)\) satisfying \(R_x>H(X_0| Y_0)
