Determination of priority among correlated inputs in source identification problems

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 1992
Abstract Frequency response function technique and partial coherence function technique are two typical approaches in noise source identification of multiple-input/single-output systems. In the second approach, which is used in cases where the inputs are correlated to each other, determining the priority of the input records is a key factor since the

Numerical solutions of source identification problem for hyperbolic-parabolic equations

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2018
A numerical study is presented of boundary value problem for hyperbolic-parabolic equations with unknown source term. The first and second order of accuracy difference schemes are constructed and the numerical procedure for implementation of these schemes is discussed. Numerical example is included.

Mixed integer optimization approach to groundwater pollution source identification problems

Environmental Forensics, 2016
ABSTRACTIn this study, we consider an approach that employs 0–1 type integer programming in a simulation-optimization model to identify the characteristics of groundwater pollutant sources. The advantage of the proposed solution model is that it reduces the dimensions of the unknown variable, where 0–1 type integer variables denote the source position.

Application of heuristic algorithms on groundwater pumping source identification problems

2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IEEM), 2015
This study investigates the application of heuristic algorithms on groundwater pumping source identification problem. Unknown groundwater extraction site is located by analyzing the hydraulic heads of the observation wells. Genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), mutated PSO (MUPSO), their hybrid models GA-MUPSO, and groundwater ...

Point Source Identification of a Stationary Atmospheric Pollution Problem

2015
The adjoint method is effectively applied for identifying a location of the pollutant source in water or air pollution problems. Using the relation between solutions of main (forward) and adjoint (backward) problems, the estimation of pollutant source parameters is defined quite simply.
