Some Developments and New Insights for Microseismic/Acoustic Emission Source Localization

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
The purpose of this review is to discuss the development of the methods in microseismic/acoustic emission (AE) source localization and detail the principles of the mainly developed methods. The important applications of the microseismic/AE in engineering

On locally decodable source coding [PDF]

open access: yes2015 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2015
Locally decodable channel codes form a special class of error-correcting codes with the property that the decoder is able to reconstruct any bit of the input message from querying only a few bits of a noisy codeword. It is well known that such codes require significantly more redundancy (in particular have vanishing rate) compared to their non-local ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The influences of environmental conditions on source localisation using a single vertical array and their exploitation through ground effect inversion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The performance of microphone arrays outdoors is influenced by the environmental conditions. Numerical simulations indicate that, while horizontal arrays are hardly affected, direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation with vertical arrays becomes biased in ...

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Low-frequency sound source localization as a function of closed acoustic spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Further development of an emerging generalized theory of low-frequency sound localization in closed listening spaces is presented that aims to resolve the ambiguities inherent in previous research.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A Review of Acoustic Emission Source Localization Techniques in Different Dimensions

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Acoustic emission (AE) source localization technology, since the early application to one-dimensional structures, has been extended to a wide range of applications to two-dimensional (2D) structures, including isotropic and anisotropic materials, which ...

Electromagnetic source localization with finite set of frequency measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A phase conjugation algorithm for localizing an extended radiating electromagnetic source from boundary measurements of the electric field is presented. Measurements are taken over a finite number of frequencies.
