Evaluating sources of uncertainty and variability in rock glacier inventories
Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, 2019AbstractThis paper aims to evaluate sources of uncertainty and variability associated with rock glacier inventories compiled from remotely sensed imagery. To this end, we ran three mapping exercises in Kaiserbergtal, Austria. To evaluate interactions between mapping style and imagery resolution, we asked six operators to map and assess the degree of ...

The Croatian part of the Pannonian Basin System is located on its southern edge. It comprises the Hrvatsko Zagorje Basin and the North Croatian Basin, further divided into basins and subbasins traditionally termed depressions and subdepressions: the Mura, Hrvatsko Zagorje, Sava, Drava and Slavonija–Srijem Basin.

Cretaceous Source Rock Maturity Evaluation in the Guyana Basin
Proceedings, 2011The Guyana basin, located offshore Guyana and Suriname, lies just southeast of the giant oil and gas fields of Trinidad and Venezuela. Up to now, no major discoveries have been made, but hydrocarbon seeps along the coast line and oil shows in the continental shelf, indicate a working petroleum system.

A Global Evaluation of Source Rock Potential Since the Ediacaran
Proceedings, 2013Key factors influencing source rock potential are the extent and nature of primary deposition and post-depositional thermal, tectonic and geodynamic history, which will affect the subsequent preservation and maturity of the source rock. We present a global evaluation of source rock potential and risk from the Ediacaran and Phanerozoic.

Abstract Methylated naphthalenes in oils/condensates are relatively resistant to bio- and thermal degradation and can be useful compounds for evaluating the source organic matter and source rock lithology. Assuming that cadinene, abietic acid, and cholesterol are major precursors of methylated naphthalenes in oils and condensates, laboratory hydrous ...

A PRELIMINARY EVALUATION OF JURASSIC SOURCE ROCK POTENTIAL IN KUWAIT
Journal of Petroleum Geology, 2001Jurassic sedimentary rocks in Kuwait are generally assigned to the Marrat, Dhruma, Sargelu and Najmah Formations (mainly limestones and calcareous shales) and the overlying Hith and Gotnia Formations which are composed of anhydrites and evaporites. This paper reports the results of organic‐geochemical analyses of Jurassic carbonate and shale samples ...

Recently, oil and gas shows have been reported in Cretaceous and Tertiary rocks of the San Juan sag, and minor oil production was established from volcanic rocks (Kirby Petroleum 1 Jynnifer well, Sec. 9, T40N, R5E.). Potential source rocks present in the San Juan sag are the upper and lower (including the Niobrara Member) Mancos Shale (Upper Cretaceous)
