Rupture process assessment of rock bursts in a coal mine: Inversion of source parameters and the slip distribution on the rupture surface

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2021
Abstract To assessment the source parameters and slip distribution on the rupture surface of a rock burst event in Qianqiu coal mine, and verify the accuracy of the source parameters and slip distribution on the rupture surface, four rock burst events in Qianqiu coal mine were selected for source analysis.

Analysis on the Reliability of the Earthquake Rupture Process Inferred from Near Source Waveforms

Chinese Journal of Geophysics, 2005
Several numerical tests have been analyzed in this paper to discuss the influences from the uncertain parameters of the presumed inversion fault model. The influence from the data to the resolution of the inversion results has been also analyzed. We have discussed the influence from the time length of the data and distribution of observational stations.

Inversion of near-field waveform data for earthquake source rupture process (I): Method and numerical test

Science in China Series D: Earth Sciences, 2003
A new inversion algorithm for simultaneously reconstructing the slip vectors and rupture times of a propagating finite fault is developed based on the recent progress in the nonlinear programming study. To check the validity of this new inversion algorithm, several numerical tests are conducted.

Multi-band imaging of seismic source rupture process

2020
<p>The standard method to image the source rupture process of a large earthquake is finite fault inversion, which uses the low-frequency signal to invert the slip distribution of the fault. However, in different stages of the source rupture process of a large earthquake, the seismic waves radiated by the source have different ...

Rupture depths and source processes of the 1997-1998 earthquake sequence in central Italy

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1999
Abstract The focal depths and the rupture processes of four moderate earthquakes, which occurred in central Italy during 1997 and 1998, are investigated using broadband teleseismic data. The earthquakes, the largest with MW = 6.0, caused significant damage in the epicentral area and are part of an unusual sequence of moderate-sized ...
