Comprehensive Feasibility Study of Solar Power Plants

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The global transition to solar energy is frequently impeded by high project failure rates, largely due to feasibility assessments that emphasize geographic and economic aspects while overlooking critical technical, environmental, and socio‐administrative dimensions.

Analysis of Energy Consumption, Economic Efficiency and Carbon Emissions of Ice Slurry Direct Supply System: A Case Study of China

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traditional air conditioners suffer from low energy efficiency and exacerbate grid peak loads. While ice storage offers energy‐saving potential, the systematic regulation of ice packing fraction (IPF) on cooling consumption and its synergy with dynamic carbon emissions remains unexplored.

Tsunamis in south central Chile : evidence from coastal lakes

open access: yes, 2016
The south central Chilean coast lies on the Peru-Chile subduction zone. As a result, the area is prone to megathrust earthquakes. The convergent motion of the oceanic Nazca Plate and the South American Plate during these earthquakes causes co-seismic vertical deformation on the seafloor, which in turn generates tsunamis.

Low‐temperature soft electrochemical actuator based on hierarchically structured polypyrrole membranes for subzero operation

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
A soft electrochemical actuator using a hierarchically structured polypyrrole membrane with coral‐like hollow vesicles achieves stable performance at −24°C. The unique architecture ensures continuous conductivity and rapid ion diffusion, resulting in large strain, low energy consumption, and high coulombic efficiency under subzero conditions. This work

Machine Learning Approaches to Forecast the Realized Volatility of Crude Oil Prices

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents an evaluation of the accuracy of machine learning (ML) techniques in forecasting the realized volatility of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices. We compare several ML algorithms, including regularization, regression trees, random forests, and neural networks, to several heterogeneous autoregressive (HAR) models ...

FUENTES Y DISTRIBUCIÓN DE DIFERENTES TIPOS DE OBSIDIANAS EN SITIOS ARQUEOLÓGICOS DEL CENTRO-SUR DE CHILE (38-44°S) SOURCES AND DISTRIBUTION OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF OBSIDIAN FROM ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES IN CENTRAL-SOUTH CHILE (38-44°S)

open access: yesMagallania, 2009

A Deep Learning Framework for Forecasting Medium‐Term Covariance in Multiasset Portfolios

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Forecasting the covariance matrix of asset returns is central to portfolio construction, risk management, and asset pricing. However, most existing models struggle at medium‐term horizons, several weeks to months, where shifting market regimes and slower dynamics prevail.

Effect of Using Nisin and Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid on the Bacterial Load, Deterioration Criteria, and Sensory Attributes of Chilled Chicken Cuts

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Evaluation of the efficacy of selected dipping solutions on fresh chicken meat shelf life. Samples treated with nisin and EDTA combinations, followed by chilled storage. The effectiveness of these interventions was assessed through bacteriological, sensory, and physicochemical (pH) deterioration criteria.

Observations and comments on the diatom Stephanodiscus minutulus (Kützing) Cleve & Möller (Bacillariophyceae) found for the first time in Chile from bottom sediments collected in Lake Laja Observaciones y comentarios acerca de la diatomea Stephanodiscus minutulus (Kützing) Cleve & Möller (Bacillariophyceae) encontrada por primera vez en Chile en sedimentos recolectados en el Lago Laja

open access: yesGayana: Botanica, 2010
This study reports the presence of the diatom Stephanodiscus minutulus (Kützing) Cleve & Möller for the frst time in Chilean continental waters; it is a taxon reported in many aquatic systems in Europe and North America and there are only scanty records ...
