Spektralni odraz pigmenata i procesi u južnom Jadranu - projekt MEDUZA

open access: yesActa Adriatica, 2012
During two cruises of the MEDUZA experiment conducted in July 2003 and May 2005 various data were obtained over the deepest part of the southern Adriatic Pit. Temperature, salinity, light transmission and fluorescence were measured in July 2003.

Small copepods of the deep South Adriatic Pit: diversity, seasonal and multi-annual dynamics, and implications from the regional hydrography

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2020
In order to expand the fragmentary knowledge on the interactions between the environment and copepod distribution in the deep offshore Adriatic Sea, microcopepod assemblages were investigated during 31 cruises in the 1200-m deep central part of the South Adriatic Pit (SAP), from May 1998 to December 2009. Samples were collected in 8 depth layers, using

Correcting for potential 222Rn loss in 210Pb dating of sediments from the South Adriatic Pit

Quaternary Geochronology, 2013
Measurement of 226Ra activity concentrations is often used to estimate supported levels of 210Pb for purposes of geochronology. However, the implicit assumption that supported 210Pb and 226Ra are in secular radioactive equilibrium may not always be true because of the migration of an intermediate product, gaseous 222Rn.

New Insights on the Formation and Breaking Mechanism of Convective Cyclonic Cones in the South Adriatic Pit during Winter 2018

Journal of Physical Oceanography, 2022
Abstract The deepwater formation in the northern part of the South Adriatic Pit (Mediterranean Sea) is investigated using a unique oceanographic dataset. In situ data collected by a glider along the Bari–Dubrovnik transect captured the mixing and the spreading/restratification phase of the water column in winter 2018.

Intermittent supply of North Adriatic Dense Water to the deep South Adriatic Pit through gravity currents: an observational study

Severe winters in the northern Adriatic potentially generate gravity currents flowing along the eastern flank of the Adriatic, filling and ventilating the deepest layer of the southern Adriatic Pit with high-density water. The pulses of gravity current observed by data at the moorings in the Canyon of Bari (BB site) and the shelf-slope observation site

Yearly phytoplankton dynamic at South Adriatic Pit

2014
Phytoplankton composition and abundance were investigated in January, February, March, May and September 2012 at station P-1200 (max 1200m depth) situated in the open waters of the South Adriatic (60 km southwest of Dubrovnik). Samples for analysis of physico-chemical parameters and phytoplankton were taken using 5 L Niskin bottles from standard ...

STRONG INTERNAL OSCILLATIONS FOUND IN THE CENTRAL SOUTH ADRIATIC PIT

2010
The MEDUZA cruises in the south Adriatic Sea have acquired a number of oceanographic data in the deep South Adriatic Pit in summer 2003. Temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen concentrations, together with transmission, pigments and optical parameters, were measured by two multiprobes in 6-h intervals during several days.

Planktonic ostracods and cladocerans in the south Adriatic pit

1998

Vertical distribution and feeding of chaetognaths in the South Adriatic Pit

2001
The vertical distribution and feeding of pelagic chatognaths were studied in the northern part of the south Adriatic Pit at three stations (0-1000 m depth) during five cruises from April 1993 to February 1994. Higher numerical differences between stations and cruises were noted only in the 0-100 m layer. A maximum number of chaetognaths (406 ind/10 m3)
